LOL Thanks fellas... It was a hell of a sound when she popped. Its all back together again with the new (donor) t-case install with a new Trans mount. all bolted up and ready to go. I popped the old t-case in half to get the real story on the "happenings" When I was in Moab last year, the T-case would "complain" a little while driving faster than 50mph, Just a little bearing noise, but not too bad (the t-case has 201K on it) So I figured it was getting worn out. SO Upon opening up the blown t-case to see exactly what happened (pics to come) it looks as though when I had the front wheels off the ground and full throttle (3gear,4low,on the spray,@5500rpm) when it landed off the top of the rocks that is when it exploded. It appears that the Planetary gear for the front drive sprocket (where the chain goes from the main shaft to the front drive shaft) Shattered in 5 pieces and then flipped the chain over to shatter the housing (both sides) The front drive chain sprocket is HUGE, and it shattered... I guess I finally found the fix to blowing up front driveshafts,,,,,,,, Only to find my new week link as a worn out T-case:):):):):):):):)

Thanks for the advise about cryo treating the new case shafts... But I figure I got 4 years of HC wheeling abuse on a case with 200K on it. and the fact that you can get cases on the cheap a dime a dozen, I figure screw it. If this one pops early, then I will go that route of cryo-treatment (damn good idea and thanks for the advise) we will see:):):):)

But for now,,, she is back in business, and now I have time to get to completing the 2014 ram 6.4l single cab desert race build :):):):):):):);););)

Picked up some 42" radial IROK's to run on the road so that I don't destroy my Stickys on the pavement... Stuffs them with no rubbing with only a 2.5" lift up front !!!!!!! Cant wait for Trep's to come out with their 42" comp sticky's!!!!!!!!!

of course you can... A few people have already done it:) Just leave the hood alone,,,, I'm still surprised with everything I have done to the truck (rollovers,flops) that the damn hood still has no dents.. Makes NO sense to me!!!!!!!!!!

the only reason I say to do the cryo is because if that t case comes apart and the driveshaft continues moving your trans will be toast as well! Like normally happens to our trucks when the double cardan goes!!!!


The test of your points are very valid tho cases are cheap lol is was hoping you were going to show me a bent output shaft....but where is this deser racer?!?!

Hello Everyone, Just checking in,, Its been a while and the Ram is still pulling her weight on the East Coast, but headed to Moab sometime in May 2018 Running Maxis Comp stickies now on the Hutchinson DBL's , and it has transformed this truck into on hell of a rock crawler. But wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Some nice builds happening in here lately,,, Very impressed with the build quality of all the PW owners,,,,always top notch stuff. Keep it up

Any dents on the hood yet???

Thanks man. Yea I took a lid in "lions Den" in Harlan Kentucky at an event, and after all these years of having a fresh un-dented hood,,,, she took a heavy hit into the radiator etc. No damage, but I must say that After market Griffin Radiator is one tough bastard. Ill have to get some pics of how much the radiator "flexed" but didn't pop.. Crushed in most of the forward hood, but still latches after some love with a sledge hammer.

Im planning on being at this 2018 event in Moab,, I missed last years, but will def. be attending 2018

any of the old crew from the 2016 event going?
