I have my passport and I would be willing to travel a to work on someone else's truck. Let me know when you have parts lined up and I'd be happy to come give you a hand. It really is easier than you might think. That offer stands for anyone that isn't "too" far from me.

So far I'm still loving the cam. I love the look I get from people when they hear a modern hemi (or any modern motor) sitting beside them with the lope this truck now has. It's pretty cool (I'm sure it will get annoying) but the truck will actually visibly rock with lope. Sure gets a lot of attention now.

What is involved on the tune to make it run as you would like?? I am seriously considering this mod, but I need to to be reliable.. What do you think.

To get the most out of it, I need to get a wideband air/fuel gauge, and get some logs off to my tuner. Out of the box, my tuner has a nice tune that the truck has performed almost flawlessly with, and the issues I did have are not show stoppers or interfere with the drive-ability and reliability of the truck.

Well, I don't have much to update on this. I'm working with a different tuner now, and he is really getting this cam to perform how I expected. I just got to get my logger hooked up to my wideband and we can really get the tune nailed down. I don't know how guys do it by video, but that sucks.

Oh and I also got parts in for more upgrades. Flywheel hopefully will be in next week.

Flywheel most likely had a lot of small cracks in it. At least that's how mine was when I put my clutch in.

I'm just going with a stock flywheel. I couldn't find anything aftermarket that I could replace stock with, so I have no choice. I'm only replacing the flywheel because this truck as gone thru 2 stock clutches in 110k miles, and I know it has gotten VERY hot a few times, and just generally had a rough life. It has done a couple of pulls where the smoke cloud out of the clutch was pretty impressive (once by me, oops  ), and I could feel the heat radiating out of the bell housing after the pull, so I'm pretty confident that I don't want to risk resurfacing it and using it again. With the upgrades I have done and still have plans to do, I don't want a flywheel coming apart at the rpms I plan on turning during pulls, and runs, so it's a cheap safeguard. I'm still daily driving the truck (clutch that is in it still engages good enough, just won't hold the extra torque if I push it in the lower gears), and I don't plan on putting in the new clutch until closer to spring.

Thanks. I don't travel or take vacations (having to look after my father and farm puts a damper on that kind of stuff) so I spend my play money on building up trucks with him, and building the things he always wanted to, but just couldn't get to. I kind of beat to a different drummer in what I choose to modify (big block Dakota, making a performance orientated truck out of a PW, 53 Fargo we built, etc) and I love to build things that just catch everyone off guard and don't expect, and look factory. Hopefully this weekend I will be picking up a first gen 2wd diesel that I have a plans on making a 1979 RCSB street truck out of that will stomp my Dakota!! I also do this now, as I know when I eventually settle down, all the "toys" will come to an end.

Sweet deal, I certainly don't really regret doing it to mine. If I was doing it over again (and I still might) I would get a custom ground cam build to get the absolute most torque out of this motor that is possible. The current cam is pretty damn strong, but the big block torque in my Dakota has spoiled me and I want that feeling for the PW.

If you do go and do this, let me know as I have all the tools to do the cam and spring swap and it will save you from buying them.

I'll see if I can't the vid working again. Photobucket has done something wierd to me.

Is that the cam that is supposed to give more power low n the rpm range? I'm looking to do something like that to my daily driver but need to do lots more research.
2010 Ram Power Wagon. dual exhaust, CAI, 87mm moes throttle body, diablo intune, spyntec manual hub kit, icon control arms, top gun customz panhard adjustable bar, 2 inch coil spacer. Stock shocks. 35x12.50x17 general grabber red letter out, amp power steps. Electric fan. Top gun customz +2 sway bar end links.

My absolute favorite things I've put on thus far, the amp power steps & those icon control arms (tire rub drives me nuts). That & every performance bolt on I've put on I freaking love, but if I had to choose it would be those steps (gotta bad leg & the steps are a major help) & icon control arms.

There is a lot of options out there for a cam. Different grinds will give you power at different rpms. Or if you are going to do any other modifications to the motor....

Finding a good tuner will be just as challenging as finding the right cam.

I wanna go with a mild cam. It's gotta get me to work the next day and the day after. I like the power now but I need more of it down low. I'm very new to all this I observed or did some part off all the mods listed on my signature, so I am learning.

Is an aftermarket cam even reliable enough to b daily driven.

This KRC 210X cam is primarily a low/mid range torque cam, exactly what I was looking for without spending the $400+ for a custom grind. When I picked up this cam, I wasn't sure it it would even be tunable because there has been a few guys that couldn't get the computer to like it and run decently (this cam has a tight LSA which sometimes doesn't play nice). So far my truck is running pretty strong with no real issues, plus the price I paid for this used cam I couldn't pass up.

Like 06Wagon said, find your tuner first. I started out with Sean (Hemifever), but went with David Amalong (whitelightening) and his tuning has been badass so far, and I haven't done hardly any logs with him yet.

When specing out your cam don't get hung up on peak horsepower numbers that the manufacturer's put out. If at all possible find dyno graphs and look for a lot of area under the torque curve. No fun having a cam that only makes power at 4000+rpms, has a short operating rpm range, or looses any torque in the lower rpms. These trucks need all the torque they can get, and torque is the seat of the pants grunt you feel.

Build for torque and horsepower will follow.
