Thanks Brandon

I have a 6spd manual truck, and by all rights, the 5.7 in stock form is more than adequate for me and does what I want out of it. However being as I am someone who can't leave anything stock and I always need more power (insert Tim the Toolman grunt here) I'm going to cam the truck and I might get the heads milled a little while I have it tore apart. I'm going with a KRC 210X, which will add a fairly significant amount of low end torque that will help me out both off road and while pulling my trailers.
2007 Dodge Power Wagon - Inferno Red Quad Cab, G56, KRC 210X cam, SRT8 JGC seats, 35x12.50 Toyo MT's, Offroad lights behind the grill, Warn wireless winch remote, Carli front Diff Guard, Carli Long Travel Air Bags, On board air complete w/ train horns, homemade hidden gooseneck hitch, Homemade locker bypass, upgraded Mopar steering box, Centerforce clutch
1998 Dodge 2500 Laramie, QCSB 4x4. 24V cummins, completely rebuilt chassis with '01 1500 body installed, full gauges, Edge drag comp box, +150hp injectors, performance 47re built by me, 35" Toyo MTs on 3rd gen wheels.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 ST 4x4 Quad Cab 4.7L Bright Silver, HO Cams, 12,000 lbs Winch mounted behind bumper, 4.56's, 2500 factory tow hooks, 35x12.50 Toyo MT's, Air-Lift Ride Control bags, homemade hidden ball gooseneck hitch.
1987 W100 - carburated 5.7 Hemi/727 combo, 35" Toyo MT's. Ramcharger D44 w/ warn hubs, Warlock seats, 2nd gen center console
1987 Dakota - RCSB, 413 big block, LT headers.
And a few jeeps for good measure.

I too have the G56 6-speed manual. I tow at max load of 10,500 lbs. My engine is the old 345 hp Hemi. New ones are like 390 hp. I have no issues so far what-so-ever. Mine is more than adaquate as well---so far. We always want or are looking for more power though, whether we need it or not. It is not the Hemi that is the issue, it is the transmissions. The new ones are 6-speed autos----but IMHO not really, they are actually 4 speeds with 2 overdrives. So, basically it is a 4 speed. There is absolutely no damn reason to do that. It is not just Dodge doing that either, they all do it. Seeing as it is already a "6-speed", all they would need to do to make the best trans EVER, is to have the gear ratio's the same as our G56. Ours are true 6 speeds. We have only one overdrive. Here are the gear ratio's so you can compare.

G56-------1st) 6.29:1----2nd) 3.48:1----3rd) 2.10:1----4th) 1.38:1----5th) 1.0:1----6th)0.79:1----Rev) 5.74:1

6sp auto-1st) 3.23:1----2nd) 1.67:1----3rd) 1.50:1----4th) 1.0:1------5th) .75:1----6th) .67:1---rev) 3.0:1

So it seems that the auto trans are geared for mpg & NOT HD work. This is why many people think they need a diesel to haul 5000 lbs. The Hemi is a VERY capable engine ------IF it is paired with a capable transmission with the proper gear ratios. If Dodge would make a 6-speed auto trans with the G56 gear ratios, it would quickly become the go-to truck & trans for those who want HD capability without the added cost of a CTD.

Agree 100%!!!!! If they made an auto with these ratios I would get one. Until they do I will keep this truck until they bury me in it!

i wish i went for a 6.1l when i had the chance but i could not find one that was a good deal at the time i needed an engine, and the computer won't run the 6.1l properly with out losing the PW program upgrades. but now that i think of it i wish i spent the money for a 6.1
