Diesel PW Build Thread

All right. Its not a PW. But it will one day play with them in the same sand box with the big rocks. Over time I will be building this up to be a Multi purpose Vehicle like the PW but keep it fully usable and reliable as my DD Work Truck. Here is a pic of the truck as it sits right now. I will post new upgrades as I get them On. For now it will be bolt on but soon som fab work will happen.

For Example.... I have a Winch, winch cradle, and a smart bar from a power wagon. ( I also have the POWERWAGON Embroiderd floor mats) Not a bad start. Now these will be installed in time. For now here is a picture of my Oil burner

Hate to tell you, but none of the winch stuff will work on a deseil due to the intercooler. It takes up the same space as the winch does. The only way to mount a winch is in a bumper, so at least you've got a great winch to use for that.

Ah but you may be mis informed.. Google diesel powerwagon on 40's. Mopar built one. And I know how they did it

Finally Got the Lightforce on. This is on like this for now until spring when I get started on the Winch. Then they will be off and relocated.I have a 22" visionx led bar that I may tie in too but I have to convince my wife to let me take it off her jeep

Looks good. But with the winch......how did Mopar use a pw winch cradle and mount it up front. Not gonna work unless you move a bunch of stuff.

If you do, document and take lots of pics.

Sent from the middle of nowhere.

the frame rails extend just past the intercooler. I will be mounting it off of there. On the pw it is just shoved back under. As far as making it work with the cradle, it will take alot of work i am sure but I will make something work. Lots of Pictures

Here are some teaser pics. You will notice that the front bumper has been moved forward a bit.

Why not just put a winch bumper on the truck and be done with it? Hidden winches are cool, but they are easier to operate when they are out in the open. Buying a winch bumper is also going to be a lot cheaper than a lot of custom fab and paint to extend the factory bumper and fairing.

Been awhile since I posted here. Time to start again. I'm picking up a rollover pw next sat. Then debating if worth fixing or salvage. If salvage the axles and lots of the good stuff will end up on this truck.

Since I started this thread the ctd has gone through a few different lives. The hankook mt were replaced by bfg at's for last winter. Then come summer i picked up some general grabber mt's. Best tire I've had on a truck. Sad that I can only get them in the 35's and not bigger. For this winter i picked up toyo at2 extremes in 35. Well then the fun started.

Programmer wise i was running a smarty jr for the summer. Fall I picked up a h&s mini max tuner system. Full afe intake as well.

Well I decided that I wanted the height back. So I picked up a set of carli coils and rear leaf pack. I'm not impressed with either for street driving although when pushing really hard they improve. My plan is to replace the rear leaves with the pw's

This is actually finally getting off the ground guys. It was a rough year till the end so everything was on hold till now. Will keep you posted and start posting pictures again

Here is a couple. I was parked next to a pw and was pleasantly suprised to see im on my way

Currently the smart bar is installed on the truck and is cable operated.

As far as winch mounting I'm still considering options

Thanks for looking

I'm in a bind because i need ball joints and was holding out to do an axle swap instead of dropping a grand on the carli's right now. The pw is low km so the joints should still be in ok shape. Although nothing is guaranteed. I just hate it when you plan to meet someone then don't and all day dont answer texts or phonecalls.

Yeah, that sucks for sure. Axle shafts front & rear should be the same & be able to be used as spares. Some dont realize that our rear axle shafts are the same as the 1 ton diesels at 1.53" in dia. vs the 1.25 of a reg Hemi 3/4 ton.

Yea thats an awesome fact. Uses the 10.5 ring with the heavier shafts. Good planning for bigger tires.

Alright after a week of waiting the fellow with the pw I was looking to buy finally got back to me. But I was pretty ticked off so i cut the price down by $1000. I got no communication from him since before last Saturday and was supposed to meet him last Saturday. Today he assured me i can pick it up this sat at 10. I will post pictures of the truck when I pick it up. Now I'm getting pumped. This project is on its way. It's supposed to warm up next week so I can assess what's up. It's been -40 to -47 with wind here this last week. Don't think I'll be turning wrenches with that

It's been nasty. Google Regina, sask, Canada weather. If 40 above makes you queasy our Friday and sat forecast will give you nightmares lol
