Rear Tube Bumper Build

Post by Powerwagonmark » Tue May 29, 2012 12:20 am

OK here is my rear tube bumper build. I used the stock hitch frame brackets and worked off of those. I am welding in a 3" dia 0.250 wall tube between the brackets. Everything will be out of .250" wall. I am just tacking everything together for now until I get it the way I want, then I will remove it and fully weld it and paint it.

I cut some heavy duty brackets that will incorporate a d-ring on our Mazak Laser. I cut 4 pieces of 1/2" and welded 2 together to make them 1" thick. The second tube will slide through the large hole and be fully welded on both sides.

So after work I cleaned up the welds on my d-ring brackets, there nice and shiny now I tack welded them into place and test fitted my next tube. Everything seems to be going together pretty smoothly. I just need to add a few more tubes and a hitch and I will be ready to fully weld it all up.

I started on the side hoops I used 1.25" dia tube 3/16th's wall. We dont have a tube bender at work so I tried my best using some elbows that we had lying around.

Everytime I see a Power Wagon like this I feel like mine still needs some serious work. With threads like this I can see that this forum is going to be tough on my wallet.

Sounds good I like Whiteys and Va wagonaman better then mine. I went a little overboard could have saved some weight and use smaller tubing. Let me know if you need any help.
