Re: TrailWhalePowerwagon 2018 PW

Post by BoldAdventure » Tue Jul 24, 2018 4:04 pm

I bought the first one, the other ones I've seen, and I just saw another in person at PWIM this year, seem to still have quality issues. But, it's all workable. The design is good. I just felt like Kye was kinda not interested in being a business when I purchased from him. Don't mention Mike Key and you should be good. LOL

And, now we have officially trashed your build thread with our BSing. Sorry.

If you’re interested in tube bumpers maybe give pattonfab a look. They don’t have a power wagon specific option, but their frame horns work very well as the foundation of a custom tube bumper.

BUILD THREAD COMMENTS

Post by BoldAdventure » Wed Aug 01, 2018 8:15 pm

We've had comments in the Build Thread section in the past. However, the point of the build threads is to make them content-driven, so people can view mods and get ideas without sifting through other peoples questions and comments.

So please place ALL questions, comments, and discussion in this thread instead of in the person's build thread (which should remain content-only).

Thanks!

Nice job! I bought the Thuren arms, but they're still in the box. I should have got these things. I may still do it.

I definitely need the Thuren shackles. The ones I have are a little short.

Do you Kno how the Thuren soft ride coils compare to the Carli progressive coils?

The Thuren coils are a lot stiffer then the Carli coils. And sit higher too.

Im not sure on the stiffness, but from what I have seen the carli springs sit a bit taller than thurens... oh wait, you guys are referring to those dinosaur trucks, I'm not up on them

Becuase the build threads have turned into a shit show. The end goal is to eventually remove all the comments from builds, so they are just build threads. Not discussions.

Highly recommend a helper to run the floor jack and hand you tools. I did everything but the rear track bar solo in a single day and I was smoked. With one or two assistants it should be an easy Saturday project or two very easy days if you split it up front/rear.

NO, end of debate. Take ADeluca's thread, 255 replies, 90% are not related to the build, but just people commenting. Makes it difficult to actually read a build and follow mods done and look for things quickly.

We want the builds to be focused from now on, not off topic. Hell in my own build 3 of ya posted two pages worth of replies talking to each other unrelated to my build.

If you have a better idea, suggest it.

I guess it doesn't matter if I have any better ideas if that's the end of debate. I agree pages of off topic banter are a waste of space, but I do think there can be value added discussion in a build thread, and locking them to comments shuts that down.

I happen to agree.

I gleaned a lot of value from the questions and answers related to the build - right there all together...

But i understand that the people investing their time in supporting the site are going to make it the way they want it...

Fine, we will try the moderation approach. Limit the "That looks nice" and "Cool" to direct questions related to the build. And not commentary.
