I was literally looking at the ATS bypass block a few weeks back. If this is what caused the failure, i wonder if the trans flush set it off? That would be against most logic but you never know.
I was also looking at the ATS bypass after I *think* reading Rodeoflyer's mention of it. This might add a bit of fuel to my fire.

I installed the bypass after the trans rebuild. Not sure it would have helped in pwjouster case. Sounds like a snap ring or something metal came apart in there. Not that overheating could have influenced it.

i have the 100k mile warranty.
I thought FCA cut the powertrain warranty to 5/50 for HD gassers? How did you get 100K? I'm shocked a truck that is less than year or a little over and tranny already failed? You must ride hard. According to some, flushing has it pros and cons and could have mucked up something internally. I occasionally get what I call driveline clunk when it downshifts or when feathering the brake and accelerator. I thought it might be excessive gear lash in rear diff or in tranny, dealer claimed to have checked it on previous service visit ( I suspect he didn't because the diff cover hasn't been removed; no tool marks on the bolts). Still does it occasionally in the right conditions.
dont hate me...

by flush, i meant drain and refill. no flushing machines.
i drive it performance oriented, but im not hard on it like i am on a rental. Trail braking as fast as possible and brake boosting and stupid shit.
i drive fast, but not hard on the transmission, I.e. i havent changed my habits, and ive never blown an engine or trans.
i was also having the driveline clunk and occasional hard downshift. Thats what led to me complaining each time it went in for oil changes.
example, TCM reflashed each oil change, and rear diff fluid already changed twice.. i was unahppy with it to begin with.

truck is 2017 build.

Good 'ol reflash. FCA must tell their dealer techs to reflash for any customer complaint. Fixes it every time!

I requested it to be done because the trans would learn ways around my aggressive driving. And each reset gave me temporarily improved crisper shifting and proper gear selection.

That's probably what burned up your transmission. During relearn the transmission clutches slip and line pressure is lower.

during relearn i tried a few different techniques.

constant Tow mode
driving slow
driving hard

the easier i was on the gas pedal, the more lethargic the shifting and lugging would become.

the more i kept it in tow mode, the longer it would run in a crisp concise manner before reverting to crappy technique.

Relearn was the only way i would find comfort in the truck for a modest amount of time. No chance my 5 relearns would ever cause this.

still waiting for a phone call.
