Nice. If you need any dimensions, let me know as most are still fresh in my mind.

All and all it took 2-3 guys about 10 hours to knock out the sliders. Figure another 3 hours for the steps and a good 4hrs to paint (includes dry time in between coating).

I can't stress the importance of a 220v welder. We tacked everything with a 120v Hobart that was rated for 1/4" but it couldn't burn through. When we went to use the 220v Eastwood MP200i it made all the difference.

Will post pics when I get them painted and mounted.

So are you just doing rails or kick out White Knuckle style? I see you mentioning steps above. I'm curious to see the end results. So far so good man.

Thanks man. Yes I will be doing the kickouts or steps as I keep calling them. Similar to WK and Jnallison
http ://forum.powerwagonregistry.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3158

Probably get the kickouts sorted sometime next month. Material and bender are all setup, just need to find the time.

Ya luckily I have some friends with better skills and welders that can help me as I haven't sprung for a good welder yet. I may PM you about some dimensions. Also maybe some pictures of the mounting points once they are back on the truck would be appreciated!

A few updates, mostly good but a couple bonehead moves lead to some stupid mistakes.

Finished painting and mounting the Rock Sliders

Then tested them out on a very tight old mining trail (Copper Cache)

Ripped off my front bumper valance, dinged up my bumper, and scuffed up my wheels in the process

Mounted my BlackVue DR650S-2CH dashcam (front and rear).
0309181618_HDR.jpg
0309181617_HDR.jpg
Mounted up the 60" Hi Lift in the bed as well.
0309181603.jpg
In an effort to reduce the chance of dragging my exhaust, I removed the rear resonator and routed the exhaust to what I thought was a safe place. Turns out your exhaust gets hot, especially when you are towing up a grade and keeping the revs above 4k.

Stupid hurts, and costs. Ended up melting my Park Sensor, Park Sensor Harness, Park Sensor Grommet, Bumper Top Step Cover, a couple wire looms and toasting the paint below the taillight. All in a good $250 in parts if you dont count the paint. Parts are on order and i'll hit the exhaust shop to have them add a dump right behind the axle.

Live and learn!

I was gonna do the same exact setup this spring (although "eventually" get a dump installed). Guess I will wait till I do it all at once... thanks for posting that!

Yeah, learn from my mistakes. Shit sucks and I'm hoping it's only the above that needs to be replaced. I'll post up once the parts are installed. I'm getting an error that the Parking Assist needs service and the fronts aren't working either.

The sliders are working out well but the wife keeps asking when the steps will be installed.

Thanks. For sure, I'm not too worried about the rock rash. I will eventually build a front bumper with 3/16" plate. Hopefully I can get the front sensors to work with a custom bumper.

I hear our steering boxes don't like 37s. Hopefully this will help it last more than a couple years.

surprised how much you melted the bumper...

that is exactly where i was going to dump mine... you certainly did forget to add a turndown tip. you can turndown and lose clearance. the velocity of the exhaust at 4k would have put that heat directly into the pavement.

you certainly made me more cautious as i look at my exhaust setup. i may tuck the tube and turndown just before the rear bumper.

I think if you add a short tip/extension right where the resonator gets cut off it should be just fine.

I'm with you, thats my plan. Remove the current tip, do a 45 or 90 degree down pipe.

Happy to hear I may have saved a couple guys from a similar fate. I should setup a GoFundMe so you guys can donate to my repair fund. :D

I probably would have been fine until this spring when I first hooked up to the travel trailer and poured the coal to her.

I'm sure it would have, I put about 1000 non towing miles on the truck with zero issues. But the first trip out with the trailer and things started melting.

Did I mention I really want to regear to 4.88, bc I do. Also looking for a tuner that will recalibrate my trans and speedo for the 37s.

Does anyone have a current mfg and part number list for 4.88 gears on a 2014+ PW?

HOT DAMN, literally! My exhaust is chopped just like that, and I've been hauling ass up long hills around Mammoth/Big Bear, etc. loaded with camping gear, no trailer though. I guess I'm going to play it safe and get that re-routed asap LOL.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the steering brace. It's crossed my mind several times when I've been in the rocks or hauling down trails!

It's worth it. It makes a big difference in steering feel.

I agree. Thats what has kept me from putting 37s on the truck in the first place. I feel like I want to do a gear swap even with the stock tires.

Check Aduleca’s build page, I think he has info on his gear swap.
