Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
Throwing this out there... I'm wiring averse. I'm very good at letting the smoke out of wires. I can wire up lights no problem, I wired the hids and a few other individual lights/accessories on my prerunner... but that was to all separate switches and I feel like there was definitely room for improvement.
Looking for opinions from you guys that may have experience with wiring up various accessories. I want to do something clean looking in the PW, maybe individual switches (I've seen some that come labeled or you can order with custom labeling but can't remember the name of the mfg) or I was considering going the route of an spod or switch pro. I have very little knowledge of the differences between the two, and zero experience with either, but I like that all of the switches are together on one module. I'd like to run power for 1) a pillar lights 2) backup light 3) dust light 4) rock lights 5) power to the bed maybe? And other? I'm thinking a switch pro may be the way to go to keep things better organized and minimize space and drilling extra holes in the dash. Thoughts?

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
Switch pro or sPod sound like the right way to go for you. I've been eyeing the switch pro but never handled one. I've had an sPod and the quality and service was outstanding. Very simple and straightforward to deal with

Spod is pretty local to me, I think they're maybe 20 minutes north of here. Time to do some homework on both.

I like that the Switch Pro panel fits in a Bullydog A-Pillar mount.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
I ordered the switch pros module, I like that its compact, Bluetooth programable, no relays, and has more switches than I currently need so I have room to expand down the road on a single unit.
I mounted the Baja Designs Squadron XL-80s today. I used the included harness to temporarily wire the lights until the switch pros comes in. I'll get some night time output shots tonight.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
Glare off the hood is a lot less than I expected. Here's a view from inside the cab, and one standing in the bed, over the cab so you can see distance and the light on the hood evenly.

Wow. That's pretty damn bright. Can't wait to hear how you like the switch pros, it's a really slick looking unit.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
It's a TON of light out of just two 4.5" cubes. Also I haven't spent any time aiming them yet either, just eyeballed it. Switch pro should be here Tuesday. It's probably going to be a week or two before I can hook it up but it'll give me time to find a good mounting spot for it. If I can't find a suitable space I may get that a pillar piece reloaderguy mentioned.

Thanks for the pictures. Can you post some pictures of the brackets under the hood? I think I'm going to redo my lights soon but I'm still unsure of the direction I want to go.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
No problem, sorry for the delay! I'm happy with them, I'm really glad SDHQ came to their senses and updated them and changed the orientation of the light from their original design. Also, the mounts say they fit up to a 4.5" light, I test fitted my 6" round hid and they fit a-ok if you adjust the mount slightly back.Reloaderguy wrote:Thanks for the pictures. Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
Do you by chance have a zoomed out picture of the front of the truck you could post with the lights? I've thought about doing this for a while now, and I'm wondering how it looks when you're looking at the truck.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
If had bought my truck new or not been so impulsive with my purchase I would have definitely gotten that blue color. Best looking color in my opinion.

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
I clicked on this thread solely to see if YellowRange1's avatar was a yellow Power Ranger. I was disappointed.
That Yellow Ranger was really clean man, but I can see some pretty serious suspension on the new one. Nice 'Wagon, btw.

Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
I love the color since it's damn near identical to the truck I grew up in and drove to high school for a bit, but it definitely doesn't hide scratches like white or silver would!2011TXPowerWagon wrote:If had bought my truck new or not been so impulsive with my purchase I would have definitely gotten that blue color. Love the output from these things! I'm planning to eventually upgrade to the baja designs fog light kit as well. One pair clear one pair amber. Having some lights a bit higher helps light up holes and cut down on shadows cast by lower mounted lights. They're definitely a hindrance in heavy dust or fog though.MikeKey wrote:I like that a lot. I'm sorry to disappoint haha! Thanks for the compliments, the prerunner is tons of fun, but not so practical for multi day adventures, or mall expeditions... daily driving a 4 linked truck with a spool in the rear end, I never bothered with tire rotations, rears would last about 6 months tops and you wouldn't believe the looks I'd get from people just pulling into parking spaces! Sounded like Ricky Bobby and the truck would end up at a crazy angle lolShagginWagon86 wrote:I clicked on this thread solely to see if YellowRange1's avatar was a yellow Power Ranger. Thanks! Hopefully line-x stands by it, I'm sure it's nice for traction getting in and out as well. I've touched up mine where they've hit and gotten sandblasted I definitely couldn't do that with powder coat...Babe wrote:Nice Rig YellowRanger1!!

Re: Yellowranger1's Blue Wagon
Well, this happened...
Found a Tepui Kukenam XL Ruggedized for sale on expedition portal. Wasn't a hard sell with the GF, she loves tent camping, but we've outgrown our kamp rite tent cot now with the dogs. Plus it sucked to spend time in if weather turned ugly. The big RTT should be a nice upgrade. I borrowed a simple rack from a friend (off his megacab) so I can use this thing on our New Years trip to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Sometime at the end of January we're going to build a taller rack to mount this thing so I can still get under it to load/unload coolers and gear boxes.
