darwink1 wrote:Progress report. Got the leather seats wired and working. Swapped pins between the connector I had from the old seat to and the one that came with the laramie seats. Worked out pretty clean. Next step is to try and use some of the unused pin spots in the connector to run the heaters. All else fails Im just gonna hook them up independently using either the stock volkswagen or my 3 way switches...

Woulda had the heat hooked up but while my buddy was messin with the seats I decided to figure out why my pwr door lock on the ds rear door wasnt working. Turns out most of the wires were pretty close to snapping and a couple were snapped under the accordion boot between the b pillar and the door. Po must have used that door a hell of a lot lol. Some solder and heat shrink fixed that but it took a good while.

Not over used. They are a Dodge weak point. The wires are a couple inches too short, so they flex too much when the doors open and close. Already changed out the rear drivers door. I kept the old harness, and saw what the issue was, so I have it on my workbench to fix up for when the next one breaks.
P.S: I moved back to Hanmer a couple years ago after having moved away 25 years ago. Some day we will have to get together for a ride and and some pops.

Hanmer eh, right on. We usually wheel out that way on the weekends. Im sure you know that theres a buttload of trails out there. Feel free to join us on a trail if youre up to it. Ill be out the next 2 weekends due to work but if u wanna go just look up "sudburyjeep". Thats the local site we post runs and bs on. I think the capreol skidder trail would be a good spot for the pw's, not too tight with a lot of rocks and whatnot.

Im in suds in the "hospital" area on Wembley if youre ever around there.

I think were up to three pw's in our area now unless you know of one I havent seen. Guy I know, Ray Ray, has a black 06ish quad cab pw with a black cap on it and I thought he was the only other one around. Small world man.

Someone just bought a new one from Mazzucca's a couple months ago---haven't seen it yet though. That makes four of us.
I spent a lot of time hunting BC (behind Capreol--lol) in the fall; so there is a good chance we might cross paths soon.

Update.

Changed the diff oil in both axles yesterday and cleaned everything out real good while I was in there. Changed that bs windshield washer sensor too and managed to waste a whole bottle of fluid while I was at it lol.

Now the good news, the front locker works great! Maybe that cleaning was what it needed. I dont really know whats what in that front diff as far as the locker junk is concerned but there was a lot of build up around those plastic tabs that the wires go into especially around that silver metal "L" bracket that looks to make contact with one of the tabs. Bunch of goop stuck on there.

Good news part two is the sway bar finally decided to disconnect. I was messing with the lockers and clicked the sway for the hell of it (havent been able to disco it since getting the truck) and next time I looked down the orange light is solid. Sweet. Flexed it out a bit and managed a little 3 wheel action, flexes pretty damn good with that thing not connected. Like a dumbass I didnt have my camera or my phone so no pics...

Had some time off and managed to mess w the pw a bit. My buddy Pete convinced me to take apart the head lights and dechromify them on saturday. After taking them off the truck we threw em in the oven for 15 minutes at 250* (250 seemed to work the best, 200 just wasnt enough) then wrestled and pried the bastards apart using flat screw drivers to pop the tabs and a small putty knife to "cut" the sealant.

Side note, if you dont have a cheapo plastic bicycle tire lever in your tool box, grab one or two. We used the lever to pop the light off the truck after all the fasteners were undone. Its a handy thing to have and since its plastic it wont scratch your paint. Ive used it for a bunch of stuff it wasnt intended for....

After 45 minutes of taping I sprayed the chrome with some gloss black plastic paint I had lying around. Couple f ups since we got into the beer about 1/3 way through but all in all they look great.

Threw on my old tacoma front mud flaps for the winter.... Had to put some quality parts on it you know lol. I also put those stupid seals on the bottoms of my doors back on. Wasnt gonna since the doors love to rust behind them but there was too much sand getting sprayed up between the inside of the door and the rocker. Gave the area a generous fluid film soaking to try to slow down the inevitable rust

Got tired of the cheesy assed wood grain stereo bezel so I painted that black as well.

Side note 2, to get to the stereo/hvac surround on our trucks you first have to take apart all the cup holder junk/bins on the floor..... just to get to two small screws on the bottom of the surround..... I thought this was stupid so I left those screws out when I put everything back together. The surround will now come off by prying on it and since theres a gazillion clips holding it in place its just as tight as it was before.

Looks allright, better than the plastiwood to me anyways.

I think the bumpers may get lined black sooner than later, have to get motivated. Chrome delete almost complete.
