Welcome to the crew! I was a former 'Yota guy as well. '87 trail beater, '98 Taco w/ ICON/Deaver, '05 Taco w/ ICON/Deaver.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the big truck. I've taken Cactus Red everywhere I did the Taco's.
I'm just along for the ride...

Lol, oh I already know how to spend, got over it though. The key is to buy a plasma cutter and welder then make all the crap you were gonna buy... The front bumpers on the tac, 60 and 80 are my creations as well as the sliders/rear bumper/tire carrier on the 80. We rigged up the tire gate (no tire in the pics) on the 60 as well.

Sold the blue 80 and the taco to buy the pw and still had cash left over so that may go towards a bender. Unless the pw needs a new trac bar, which I think it does, and the newer steering links (mine still has the Y set up going). Other than the clunk from the front end it seems to be in decent shape.

Anyone know where I can score some leather covers for the seats? Whish it had em since my dog sheds like a mofo..

Very nice rigs. Welcome to the PWR!

My wife would love that '85. Those and the old Jeep Wagoneers are her favorites, other than my PW of course.

Wasted some more time on the pw. Snagged a set of laramie heated leather seats on monday from a not so local wrecker. The rears were left in the truck and were out in the elements for a bit but I got em cleaned up good. The fronts were stored indoors and were just dusty as all f#@k, they came out mint after a good cleaning. Like a tool I forgot to grab the wiring harness so now my electrical wizard buddy is gonna hook em up for me. I got some aftermarket 3 position rocker switches for the heaters. Comfy frickin seats anyways.

Image
Image

In a moment of big gay truckness I broke down and ordered a set of recon led smoked clearance lights. I guess they look ok.... I promise I wont be flattening my hat bills or calling ppl bro anytime soon ..

Peace out bros

Picked up a laramie interior last monday and swapped it in. Just have to hook up the power to the seats and get the heaters going. Got some 3 way switches the other day and a buddy has a couple jetta switches were gonna try. The donor didnt have any of the dash left and like a retard I didnt grab the harness for the seats so its gonna get hacked together with odds and ends from the garage.

Image
Image

Broke down and pulled a bro move... Got a set of recon smoked led lights for the cab. Im no flatbiller, all my bills are curved, but I do like the way they look compared to the faded stockers.

Image
Image

Replaced the ds pwr window bezel as well, got tired of the switches popping out every time I closed the door. Also got the driver/pass windows tinted and blacked out the grille.

First "major" "oh shit" moment happened the other night as well. Got my electrical genius buddy to dumb down the settings with the superchips dealie because the po had it set to performance and the shift points were too high. Driving home afterwards stopped at a drive thru the temp starts climbing and reaches 3/4, I get moving again and it comes back down to just below 1/2... Shit I say. Replaced the t stat, topped off the coolant, and gave er a good burp yesterday and shes back to normal.

Now I just need to do the ps ball joints since the lower has play and hopefully thatll be it for a while.

Small world man. My buddy sam has a 4x4 shop out there now and we wheel there quite often. Hanmer has some great trails too.

You guys like the ammo can? I put it in for the hell of it when I chopped the doors and it ended up looking cool as all hell. Lots of extra storage when you fill up the ds and ps doors to boot. I was thinking of sinking a couple few in the extra dodge tail gate I have stashed.....

Today i have to find out why the pw is hard to start. I'm thinkin starter is on its way out..... Gotta swap that out today I guess. I just can't wait till the damn thing runs to my standards.

Try the bronze duplicolor if youre looking for a goldish color thats not too obnoxious. Ive used the gunmetal with success on the tacoma and 80 series alloys. Make sure to get that yellow zink oxide or whatever primer, also duplicolor. You could always respray them if you dont like it... Main reason I did mine is the salt up here destroys alloys and they hold up a lot better after some paint is thrown on.

Donno if you can make it out but the front diff cover on the sixty is done in the bronze wheel paint.

lol, not too much money at all, Just no kids and wife leeching all of it away....

It was getting out of hand though. Both the taco and the eighty were built up to all hell and with the sixty in the picture i couldnt justify keeping, and working on, all three. That and I didnt want to be the one to finally winter drive the tacoma which would have happened if I hadnt picked up the pw. The 80 was turning 20 years old and I was getting a little leery of driving the thing through another winter. Mind you that van never left me stranded once and I still kinda regret getting rid of it....

I just hope the pw lives up to my expectations.... and maybe even starts when its -35...

Progress report. Got the leather seats wired and working. Swapped pins between the connector I had from the old seat to and the one that came with the laramie seats. Worked out pretty clean. Next step is to try and use some of the unused pin spots in the connector to run the heaters. All else fails Im just gonna hook them up independently using either the stock volkswagen or my 3 way switches...

Woulda had the heat hooked up but while my buddy was messin with the seats I decided to figure out why my pwr door lock on the ds rear door wasnt working. Turns out most of the wires were pretty close to snapping and a couple were snapped under the accordion boot between the b pillar and the door. Po must have used that door a hell of a lot lol. Some solder and heat shrink fixed that but it took a good while.
