ARMOR - Rock Sliders

Well, I finally had access to a lift, and installed the sliders on the PW. These things are beefy and very well built.

Image

Installation on the passenger side was a breeze. The drivers side, will make you curse more than once. But the lift made the work easier. I was done with the installation in 3 hours.

Also made sure to use red Loctite on all the bolts. Now for the photos:

SHOP RECOMMENDATION

If you are in Moab, there is a DIY hobby shop where you can go online and schedule lift time. It's great, and really convenient when you are traveling and need to work on your vehicle. Today was our first visit, and we meet with the owner Joe who is a really friendly guy. The shop has tools, including a welder and plasma torch and two 2-post lifts.

The name of the place is GOTOMOAB GARAGE http://www.gotomoabgarage.com/

Your Moab videos cost me some money on the 26th of May this year...... You sir are an enabler!! LOL!

I love my new PW!

Just a few things.

KEEPING SCORE

Not a huge decal guy. But this felt appropriate. Need to get a top decal made to the effect of 6th Annual Power Wagons in Moab...

Image

Also added American Adventurist decal, fit us.

Image

LIGHTING UPGRADES

I replaced the factory Halogens in the projectors with DDM Tuning's HID Canbus system. The color temp is 5000 kelvin. I also installed their new Canbus LED bulbs in the high beam position, it took some work, but here it is, installed and inside the cover.

Image

Image

Image

Image

I also added a Rigid 40-inch LED bar, D2 Driving and SAE Fog's. I ran all on separate power switches. I actually really like using the Fogs as DRL's and trail lights.

So, you bought your truck and immediately put a lift on it. How cute. :poke:

Let me highlight what a stock Power Wagon with a good spotter and proper technic can do, that will rival that of most Jeeps.

This was all done back in May throughout Moab in our stock (except for exhaust) at the time 2015 Ram Power Wagon.

HIGHLIGHTS

Here's my stock Power Wagon (driven by my wife), doing Hell's Gate on Hell's Revenge in Moab:

We drove the TOP OF THE WORLD trail in Moab as well. Very popular Jeep trail during the Easter Jeep Safari

Is your 40" light bar the curved series or the regular one?

Curved.

But I will be honest about my experience. With the LED Highs and HID's plus the dually's down low, there isn't a whole lot of additional light when I turn on the bar.

What all needed to be modified for the LED high beams?

Just the LED's and patience. I almost gave up thinking they wouldn't fit, but then they just slipped in. First one I spent like 15 mins trying to figure out how to stuff the thing in there, the back side is pretty big. Lining it up is a bit tricky. But the other light took me maybe 4 mins since I figured out the angle I needed.

No major changes, but I added another decal.

Maybe next year I'll redo the list so this looks like less of a mess. But hopefully, it explains the "list" properly.

Its about time for an update!

I recollect reading a post of yours in a past thread indicating you have onboard air (2 compressors I think?), but I didnt see any info about it here when scanning through.

I would love to see your setup. I need some motivational inspiration!

Thanks!

How does staying in a travel trailer work in freezing weather? That has to be a little tricky.

Ours gets drained and put away in a barn before the snow comes around, so i have no experience with that.

BoldAdventures 2015 Power Wagon Build

Postby yellowranger1 » Sat Jan 14, 2017 4:39 pm

I've only been to Idaho once, and it was a turn around trip when I picked up my truck from DD in Caldwell, passing through Boise. I loved it! Looks like a great place to live, lots of awesome scenery. Congrats [emoji898]

Hey MikeKey, heres what your truck would look like with an AEV spacer kit, hutchinson beadlocks, 37s, rcv front and rear axles, dynatrac lockouts, 4.88 gears, 16.5 warn winch...

I know the AEV kit dont do anything for you, but the rest might! Nice truck!

I like that a lot except the AEV lift. I have a 2016 Laramie PW in white as well. What are the rcv axles and dynatrac lockouts? Complete replacements of our stock axles and lockers?

I know the Dynatrac lockouts are their front Hub Replacement - free wheel kit. a little spendy for sure, but a nice upgrade from the stock hub/bearing set up. Lets you free wheel front axles, and then have to lock in hubs like in the old days. Maybe someday.....
2016 Tradesman White ,adding mods now, 37 Ridge Grapplers on, Thuren Front end level kit on the way.
