Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
The new sway bar works all the time, not just in 4wd and under 18mph.

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
I'm guessing if you sell your perfectly good smartbar it more than covers the cost of Thurens swaybar and any other required parts. Did you ziptie the smartbar parts up under there or how did you clear any electronics issues?

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
I'm going to keep the smart bar for a while. I'll take some pictures of the module next weekend.Rodeoflyer wrote:I'm guessing if you sell your perfectly good smartbar it more than covers the cost of Thurens swaybar and any other required parts. Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Yeah! Someone much more skilled then I should figure out how to incorporate the SmartBar connectamajig with a Thuren or Carli bar.

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Don revalved the Kings. I'm not sure if what he did lines up with the Stage scheme he uses but the added low and mid compression valving sorted out the lazy feeling the truck had. With Stage 2 Hemi valving and his swaybar, the front would dive in off camber turns and wallow. The small bump compliance at low speed was awesome but the compromise was not worth it. The stiffer valving is still better than stock at low speed and much better at high speed; at 80mph the truck feels more sharp. If you're considering an aftermarket swaybar go up one stage in the front, if you have a truck cap go up one stage in the rear.

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Is the new valving still working well with the shims broken in?
You've got a sharp looking truck man! I dig the blue. I hope the skid serves you well!

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
I removed my smartbar last night. I can't even describe how much better the truck feels. With Stage 5 Kings it's definitely not required unless you're maybe towing a large trailer at max (which I never do) and was the cause of my floaty, bobbing feeling at speed. Removing it corrected every disappointment I've had since installing my suspension. I've been working a lot and put wrenching on the truck on a backburner for awhile but now I'm so happy with it again. I should have immediately done it back on July 22 when you posted the pic. Thank you.

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Glad it worked out, with the valving you chose you should have no issues at all. People with lighter valved shocks need to be aware that overloading the rear of the truck can be very dangerous with reduced rate sway bars, specifically heavy loads up high in the bed.

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Clean. Carli could charge more for that cover because it could make a Ford Pinto look good.
I was on the edge of making my own trusses for myself and Mike Key until I got set up as a distributor for Thuren. Being able to pay a bunch of money for an expensive piece of bent tube and cut plates that I didn’t have to screw with saves an enormous amount of time and really is worth it. Don spent time making those kits production-level and it’s worth the cost to not have to dick with misfitting parts.

Unless you're a professional fabricator with an entire shop full of automated machinery (and proficient in their use), I don't see how you could possibly save time/money making your own truss over using Thuren kit.DamageWagon wrote: ↑Sun Apr 01, 2018 3:56 amClean.
