I thought about some big ass concrete anchors in the garage foundation, some eye bolts, lock both sides down and place a jack in the middle. But I'm not sure how much it takes to straighten it. If I could, then I can weld Don's truss on.

Going to have to try and find a way to increase the strength of these thinner teethed gear sets.... Cryo and rem is my first option.

Damn!! That blows. But I never expected the gears to be that weak. Maybe you should look at 4.88s. Although that's a hell of a step backwards. Will treating them really help?

May sound dumb but was there a gear alignment issue too?all the damage is on the outside leading edge. I would have expected the carnage to be most flat across the whole ring gear. Or is it a leading edge thing

It probably looks like
That because the damage was done in reverse we figure and the coast pattern was alittle higher. I'm guessing something just barelly fractured and then the teeth piled up on the pinion and did more damage. I don't think it was alignment problem as the pattern we got was good before we bolted it all down. And backlash etc never changed. I will have to totally tear it apart and inspect everything obviously now make sure the carrier isn't fuxked

I've fucked up in reverse pulls myself, it only takes one time to learn never again. Reverse pulls puts too much stress on a ring & pinion due to the position when torque is applied. This really sucks to hear, good luck with the R&R Sir. At least you already know the process to dial it in. :)

yep lol I'll probably have buddy install them again tho the gear guy down the street. Maybe I'll do this set myself. He's building me a new t case already with some
Cryo parts so I'll just probably have him build the front end cause he can do it in a few hours and I take a day or two lol

Just an update nitro and just differentials is sending me a new ring and pinion under warranty * just said I should try and get a deeper pattern next time I install them as the reason the set didn't last was because the pattern was alittle to far to the outside edge for such a heavy truck etc. so they recommended bringing the pinion in just a bit more by adding some shims etc.

That's geat they're standing behind the product --did they provide a sample tread pattern to check oinion depth against or a coast side verification ?

no they didn't basically just said to add some shims if the pattern on the new set is like the old to bring the pinion in a bit deeper Image

You would post up something about fast cars, no where to "rally" around here but I've been in a Challenger rental while my truck is in the shop and it sure is growing on me. My wife even said to get one and she'll drive the PW when I get it back. The Grand Cherokee just might be traded in on a 392 Scat Pack.

I don't want that kind of payment. Wouldn't take much for the 392 to pump a few more horses.
