Boogie wagon take 2

Post by Colibri » Thu Aug 20, 2015 12:20 am

Hello everybody, I figured I should start a build thread over here to share what's going on with my fellow power wagon freaks. My truck is an 09 I've had it about 4 years (second owner) and it's been a gradual work in progress.

It's on jack stands in my garage right now getting all kinds of good stuff done to it, it recently went through a big overhaul and the details of that can be found here: http://dodgetrucksxtreme.com/index.php?topic=13842.0
Unfortunately only about a week after it got back on the road I broke and bent my front housing, sooooo here I am yet again lol.

She sits on a carli dominator setup with front and rear hydro bumps 37" open country's and hutchinson beadlocks. Motor is stock save for a cai and catback. It's got a sharadon stage 2 545rfe and edge tc. Aluminess front and rear bumpers and white knuckle sliders. The entire starting and charging system cable-age was replaced with 0 and 2 gauge sgx it has an odyssey battery and an anl fused alternator feed. It's a dc power 270 amp alternator. Going to install a howe steering tc pump, remote reservoir, cooler, steering box, and ram assist. Also getting extreme overkill steering with emf tie rod ends put on. I got ahold of a trussed front axle housing done by creative fabworks and a rear 11.5 which are currently at my axle builders getting REM treated 5.13 gears and arb lockers front and rear. Have rcv shafts, carli ball joints, spyntec hub conversion, and poly drive flanges going back on the new front and ebc pads and rotors all around with crown lines.
In a couple days a sye kit will arrive from transfercaseexpress and I will be rebuilding the case and getting a tom woods rear shaft. Swapping bumpers and going with high clearance tube style front and rear from patton fab, and I have 3.0 4 tube king bypass shocks ordered for the rear. Also going to have rcv make their first set of rear 10.5/11.5 shafts and drive flanges for me soon.
It's too many pics to repost so I linked the original build thread but from here on out I'll put everything here as it happens. Hope you guys enjoy, thanks!

The front housing deflected so much it snapped the long side Rcv shaft off at the carrier. The only thing that held the axle together was the Carli truss, cracked center section and the tube seperated completely. Managed to drive it home afterwards very slowly

Cant wait to see the final results. May I ask,,, How the hell did you bend the front AAM 9.25 axle???? I have beaten' on mine so badly over the last few years, and am still not showing any signs on bending... Numberous jumps,,, wheel stands under full throttle,,, bashing into rocks etc.etc. With good luck so far...

Do tell.....

Hahaha well, I was traveling at a speed of about 45-50 mph down a dirt road and came up on a fork in the road, I decided to go right and veered over letting the drivers side tire go through the grass a little, now I've been down this road a hundred times before and never noticed that just below the grass there was a very large diameter tree stump. It hit just to the right of the center section. Hit so hard the front end went airborne and the engine shut off. Rolled to a stop got out and saw the damage. I was out where no tow truck would go so I had to limp it home about 4-5 miles doing 5mph. It made it and the axle seemed to take the brunt of the damage. Seriously tough trucks lol

BAdASS build. I will have to call you to set up a time to get that rear end. Appreciate it. Lot of good parts on that thing. We will have to go wheeling together when we get them both back together.

Thanks gunny! Yes sir 05 we'll definitely have to go wheeling one of these days and no problem on the axle, I hope it'll serve you well, sorry to hear about your brothers misfortune! Damn what did he break?

Sweet save a copy of those part numbers. That's on my list of to do's at some point. Even though I haven't had a problem with mine. I got Tom Woods driveshafts and I have a TRAILSLUT built
.250 wall indestructible shaft for wheeling lol.
Don't want to hi jack your page but basically the transfercase broke into two pieces, causing the transmission to break into two and the driveshaft to rip all the 3 computer harnesses out and destroying them. In Colorado on his way back home to Texas from Wyoming!!!!!!!

My brother will be in town Thursday so Thursday or Friday we can come up with the 12 valve and pick it up. Message me your phone number and if one of those days around there will work. We will both be off so can come up anytime that works for u. I need to try to swap it out next weekend so I can drive it to Louisiana on Tuesday 528 miles. Gotta tight window lol. Like living on the edge lol.

Well hopefully have my truck back together this weekend. Gonna go see colibri Thursday and pick up the rear. But I don't want to because I'm gonna be so envious of his 11.5 with 5.13 gears and air lockers. I'm looking forward to checking his truck out. Not to mention another Power Wagon guy to hang out with near me. Pretty sweet.
