Hey guys suggestion?

Post by 2wagons1driveway » Tue May 26, 2015 10:51 pm

Hey guys need to clear coat these to make them last longer in Canadian climate? Don't want to pay a body shop to do it seem kind of too easy to not do myself. Any suggestions on what to use to do it? Don't want to take away from the look of these gorgeous shocks! I was thinking maybe plastic dip clear? Or should I just use a clear aluminum rim paint?

I'm assuming you're not disassembling them. If you were I'd go for a clear powder coat.

What about that never wet stuff, does it work as a protecting film or just water repeller? What about the shaft, can you coat it or will that damage seals inside?

I think I'll tape up the shaft cause it's stainless shAfts anywYs just worried about the bodies the bushings obviously will rust eventually but those can be replaced

Lol I just want my finish to stay nice mike you'll be able to see
These bad boys from the back a lot more then my billies. No I've never heard of that before I was thinking of just getting good duplicolor clear rim coating for bare finish aluminum wheels and just degreasing the shock bodies taping off shafts end caps and hoses and clearing them ?

Yea, some kind of thick clear wrap like 3M brand or something would probably work pretty good. I used a spray on clear coat (Rustoleum?) to protect a Sharpie autograph on my atvs shock rezzys a couple years ago and it has held up well against mud, rock chips and the power washer nearly point blank on it. So that clear coat will probably do fine as long as you lay it on fairly thick.
