I would
Honestly probably do that same thing just given the snow and winter
Grit all over the highways here I would rather have that extra protection.

Getting some shit done. I got the tool boxes mounted and secured. Still have to fab up the (3) surfboard racks and a rack for the SUP, and the spare tire rack for the trailer tire. The custom water tank that will fit under the Arctic Cat will be here next week. Still need to install the 4 flood lights (hung on the upper rack) around the trailer for at night. But am happy with the results so far. Any Suggestions? :D

Are you using the tongue space for anything? Looks good so far!

Good Idea. I sat out there and looked at it for a bit, decided that you cant put anything flush with the bars because of the manual parking brakes and how the wheel folds up into it. So I decided to make a "cargo Carrier" up front set up high enough to clear the items below, to carry Firewood, or anything I decide to mount to the front. Kinda like the ones you see that people use in the back of the receiver hitches to carry coolers etc. Thanks for that observation

HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!! No more swaying, or bouncing... A HUGE thanks for the recommendation!!!!!!!

Fold down ladders to access the Camper installed on both side of the front of the trailer. DONE.

Surfboards, and SUP installed on the upper rack. DONE

Spare tire mounted and bolted into place. DONE.

Waiting on the Cargo Rack to be delivered from Northern Tool today, and will be fabbing that on the front of the nose on the trailer for more storage/firewood etc.

TIme to load it down with gear etc. and fill up the tanks and take her for a ride down the highway to see how she feels :patriot:

I think that is it :cash: :cash:

Loving the wood finish on the longboard. Trailer looks great loaded for bear too. Wish I could get enough time off from work to follow you south.

Just be careful in water crossings. Your outboard needs to be in reverse!! Looks awesome.

TRUE:) THanks for the compliments.. That is a real hand made Hawaii'n;) gun (the Surfboard) . A buddy of mine hand made it for me (he moved to FL from the islands. It is like a plane wing, air in the middle with stringers, rosewood/mahagany(sp) and teak on the front and back edges It is a true nose riding cadillac on the water.. my favorite board to ride,,,it is 11.5" long LOLOLOLOL

Would love the company from another adventure'er from this board to join in on the Baja trip..(hint Hint) . I know my trailer is not a true "expedition" trailer, but I told myself the next time I hit Baja, I was going to do it right, with all the right toys and acc. to be able to both the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez... I think I got it close to where I can pull it off. Just hope everything holds together going through the Salts flats/mountains towards Scorpion bay,,, it is truly the worst 200 miles of terrain I have ever been through

Awesome. I keep thinking I want to try a bigger longboard. I have a buddy with a bunch of old Webers. His favorite is a giant hatchet finned tanker. He says it is the liveliest board he has if there is enough swell.

Hope it is pumping for you while you are there.

I agree.. I always believe that the older heavier boards (made correctly) are a joy to ride. The old Hobie longboards are true gems... I enjoy walking right up to the front of the board and nose riding that bitch down,, cutting front side into the wave.. :D :D :D :D

I hope there is swell in Scorpion bay too, both times I have been, she has not let me down, and I think the prime time to be there is in March april May. So I am going to sit my ass on that beach,,,cold beer in hand,,, and enjoy every ounce of it 8-) 8-) DREAM TRIP>>>

I finished the front rack and welded her all in, and have plenty of room underneath for everything to work correctly.. It really worked out well.

Awning is due in next week, and I just picked up the flood lighting for the rack (4 Hella's) Going to wire them in off a main switch and pull power from the Trailer wiring, then install the awning, and I am finally fucking done.... :lockedandloaded: :lockedandloaded:

OK. as I was researching an awning for the back door on the camper (to be able to keep door open on a rain) I figured what a better idea to install another Solar panel :lockedandloaded: :lockedandloaded: :lockedandloaded:

got 5 (125W Mono-crystallin) panels now for a total of 625W of power, I figured 625 would be the number to be able to keep the ice maker and the fridge/freezer running off nothing but solar on a sunny day.

The canopy arrived also, and has been installed on the expedition trailer. Looks great, and tons of room under (9'x 8') Pics will come soon.

It just got Giegh'er...(the awning).. Other than a couple of weather proof storage containers on the rear. that will be it.

Where the awning attaches to the trailer is 6'6" tall, and the outside edge can be adjusted (adjusted high in the picture) enough for an Side x Side to be pulled under etc.

That looks fantastic! I can't think of anything to add to what you've built, looks like you'll be prepared for any fun that comes your way!

Thanks for the compliments I think it is finally ready for the trip. Headed to Key West next week for a 5 day run to test everything out (Zodiak/outboard/towing/ease of use) I'm sure I will need to make some minor changes, but it is a good start...

Alright... It is ready for Baja. Just took a trip to Key West and rolled her down the highway at an average speed of 80mph and drove like a dream....

Here is the picture... Best $300 ever spent..

I have only put about 400 miles on it since the install But It only used less than 2 quarts of windshield washer fluid for the 400 miles.. At that rate I figure it will burn a gallon every 1000 miles. At $1.60 a gallon for the blue windshield washer fluid (Methanol Glycol mixed with water) It is not a bad trade off at all....

VERY noticeable difference with how the engine runs... and still can't believe how much lower my EGT's are!!!!!! Pulls noticeably stronger, and an INSTANT improvement on fuel economy with the "tow" tune that I am running..
