2012 with bds long arm lift just finished 01/07/13

Post by 2wagons1driveway » Mon Jul 01, 2013 12:05 pm

hey guys here are some pics of my truck with the long arm lift before and after etc. if anyone needs any advice on lifted a fourth generation I can help now!
cause I installed this kit myself at my shop with one friend and it took awhile but for the majority it went very smoothly.
just have to modify the skid plates now to work with the driveshaft at its full droop position but that's pretty straight forward just a bit of cutting and welding.
wheels and tires should be here shortly planning on going eagle alloy 027 with a mickey t. mtz 37x12.5-17 wheels will be 17x9 with 4.5" bs. should allow me to clear the new control arms fairly easily. I hope....

Did you happen to take any measurements before and after to see what the actual gain over stock is? Looks good at that height. I also assume those are the stock 33's?
I'm just along for the ride...

no no measurements but I would assume its closer to five or six inch as it sits. my truck had about 50k on it when I did the lift and the suspension sag at this point was pretty huge especially with the front coils. and yes those are the stock rubbers just ordered the 37's today. should be here by Wednesday and be mounted and ready to go for Friday.

I'll take some tonight at regular stance have to do the bumper spacer and pinch weld mod to clear on full flex and turn. Also had to add a steering limiting puck on the from axle to keep the tires of the uppers with the wheels fully locked side to side. But overall less trimming then expected :) I love it

heres some pics of the wife and the wagon and some random ones from work today :lockedandloaded:

can wait to chop the fenders and space the bumper...actually just had the guy at on all fours in Newmarket price me out some smitty built m1 bumpers....really thinking about just adding it to the bill right now and mounting her up next week lol  this sucks! :winchmob:
does anyone know how well a fab fours bumper or smittybuilt bumper will work with our winch set ups from factory? im thinking just run two fairleads and Ive seen my buddies f350 with an m1 smittybuilt and if the access hole are the same then getting to the factory free spo0o0l lever and the factory remote connection and the factory block heater (important in Ontario) shouldn't be an issue

its coming probably next time we go wheeling lol I would like to get a bumper for it first. does anyone know how well the fab fours pre runner premium bumper works with our trucks I see the icon vehicle dynamics truck has one without the pre runner section but I really like the pre runner portion for lamp mounting etc.
I was looking at the elite series but they don't look like they would work well with the stock fairlead and the stock free wheel bar and connections etc.
id like to have a similar look to the icon truck but maybe with a prerunner instead-looks like the grill may need to be painted to match the rest of the trucks black
scheme.

just got the smittybilt m1 bumper in today-added lights and fairlead tonight very disappointed with the lights smittybilt sent with it they are cheap offshore garbage...there isn't even water tight connectors on the lamps and the housings are cheap and look like they will be crushed into mush by the earths atmospheric pressure not to mention having to face the obstacles the wagon will see.but the rest of the bumper is very impressive! very heavy duty and very stout

rear prepper with lights.jpg
these lights are cheap no water proof connectors and the threads barely hold 5 ft lbs on the smaller 2 1/2" exterior driving lamps very disappointed with the lamp set up but the rest of the bumper and coating is well worth the money rear coming soon aswell!
lights bumper.jpg
heres a frontal view of lamps installed fit was okay and the brackets have a lot of play to adjust lamps in all directions but im not happy with the quality of the housins and the lack of water tight connections for either lamp

Just a thought on Bumpers- We have a guy on the forum that sells Road Rhinos. They are basically a Road Armor for a lot less. Check the vendor section. I'm not sure how active he still is, but it might be worth a look.

okay boys and gals heres the pics of the smittybilt bumper doing some flex and some of the front inner fender liner modifications I did to match the bumper but also protect the lf impact sensor I found during the install. it doesn't look very waterproof so I did my best to shield it from the elements using the cut off section of the inner fender liner I removed and it actually worked really well. looks alittle cheesy with the self tappers but it works for me. function before form I think is
the way the wagons should be. ps the bumper install was really lengthy a lot longer then I thought the winch basically had to come out to release to frame bolts in order to install the new brackets for the winch tray section with the d ring slots of the smittybilt. I love the look of this thing now! painted my winch hook with black Loctite rubber coat for wrench handles and such looks nice and clean now well see if it lasts and I had the wife paint the 7/8" d rings red like the power wagon badging its just enough to let you know its alittle different :lockedandloaded: :winchmob: miss the simple look of the old bumper though but this new m1 bumper is so easy to access all the controls I will post a pic of the free spool handle and the winch remote connection that's all accessible while standing now makes it handy when stuck in the deep stuff. hope this sways some people to look at one :P

this is the re-used fender liner piece that I just screwed back to the bumper side of the existing fender liner to protect a crash sensor I noticed while doing bumper install. its ugly but functional-pic taken inbetween lf fenderwell and bumper fyi

this is the same mod u can see my crappy fender cutting job and the small overlap of the existing piece however it is very effective to remove road grime and excessive water ingress from the forward crash sensor
