This is what I bought at first but now it is on my wife's Jeep.
http://www.amazon.com/Tuff-LED-Lights-C ... +light+bar

But because I have a "ME TOO" wife I had to give her that one for her Jeep Grand Cherokee mounted on the Aresinal MFG light bar mount.
http://www.rdmoffroad.com/Arsenal-Mfg-L ... ee-WJ.aspx

I bought this 40" one because I realized I had more room for a bigger bar. The 40" one fits my Randy Ellis design light bar mount exactly.
http://www.amazon.com/Tuff-LED-Lights-U ... +light+bar

The 40" LED light bar replaced my three 8" round PIAA lights with 130 watt H3 bulbs. I had two floods and a center spot beam. The 30" bar did as well as those three lights and had a much more evenly distributed light pattern. It punched just as deep into the darkness IMHO. I am impressed with them and they come with a good quality universal wiring/relay kit. I only used 3 of the four mounts and did not use the pivot mounts at all. I did a direct surface mount and it is rock solid while being very difficult to remove without a 1/2 thin wrench like used on bicycle hubs. Other than lacking longevity testing I'm very happy with them.

It is an illusion that the light bar does not look centered, because it was me taking the photo at an angle that made it look that way.

thanks so much for the info that's exactly the response I was looking for! I am looking at 30" and 40" bars now I just have to see which would fit better on the smittybilt bumper now. I have multiple flat spots on it maybe even for two 12" units on either side of the winch access holes. or im thinking one 30" straight across  im just not sure :(

Finally got time off with the wife so I thought I would take and share a photo of the jeep with the 30" light bar mounted.

The additional light output of the 40" over the 30" is not all that much.
While it is a noticeable improvement, it is not night and day like I had expected.

That bar is bright! Based on the link you posted, the 40" is 8000 lumen for $340.00 Is the lumen rating about par with other 40" bars?

Sent from the Nexus.
Well Lumen is a very vague rating because of how it can be manipulated. I would say light output per dollar is phenomenal!

But to answer your question... in a side by side comparison with Rigid or Onx you can't pick out one as brighter than the other. So yes when side by side they are equal in light output and dispersion for the most part. Mine however lacks all the whiz-bang features like dimming and strobe operation etc.

There is an Onx or Rigid out there designed for military use that uses high output 5watt CRE's (their high speed bar) and yes that one is noticeably brighter and is just under $2000.00. But I don't think you or I can buy them yet. The Pro series is what is most comparable to my light in real world comparisons done on another site.

These are quotes from other mfg. that are close to the 40" size and light output and as you can see lumen is not really a good way to rate them...
The new OnX LED Light Bar is the only light bar on the market that has the distance of an 8” HID with the smooth spread of an LED. The OnX is available in 8” increments ranging from 8” all the way to 51”. Each 8” increment offers a concentrated beam of 4300 lumens. Countless hours of testing and preparation have ensured that the OnX is perfect for racers and enthusiasts that need a vast amount of light at high speeds.

The OnX utilizes a Cree XM-L2 T6 Bin LED at 5000k, which is complimented by our one of a kind user changeable optics that have been specifically designed for the OnX’s HID like distance projection. If you’re looking for the guaranteed farthest projecting LED light on the market, look no further.

http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetai ... ber=454403
The Original LED Light Bar - The Rigid Industries E-Series was the first projected LED light bar. Since its introduction in 2006, the E-Series light bar has set the standard in the industry through continuing advances in technology and superior engineering. Available in a wide range of lengths and configurations, our flagship is the light bar of choice for everything from light truck / car applications and vehicle race teams to farming equipment and police / fire rescue vehicles. The E-Series light bar is designed to project light at extreme distances while consuming very little power. This 38" version features an extruded aluminum housing with 76 LED's that together produce an industry-leading 15,960 raw lumens at only 152 watts.

Hybrid Optics - Our patented Hybrid optics system is the most powerful, most efficient LED optics system on the market. Utilizing a combination of lens and reflector, our patented optics capture the maximum amount of light emitted from the LED and projects it exactly where you want it.

What I really like about LED over HID or halogen is the instant on/off they are capable of. No residual when turned off and full brightness when flashed or turned on. Lets not forget about the cost of replacement bulbs either!

I sure hope these last a long long time.

Numbers wise, it seems MyYoung's is double the Lumens with a 30" bar. Is it actually double the brightness?

Confusing...

As already mentioned, comparing lumens across multiple brands isn't very accurate. Who know if each is measured or calculated the same way. However, I will say that this 32" bar is bright as hell and the pics don't do it justice. It severely over powers my 35 watt HID projectors. Also keep in mind that my bar uses 5 watt LEDs while some others use 3 watt. With 48 LEDs on my bar, 2 watts per light can make a big difference.

Here's two pics for comparison. First pic is just my HID projectors (Which are pretty damn bright) and the second is the projectors and LED bar. Actual light output is much better than the pics show, it's hard to pick up how much light there is on a point and shoot camera.

The impressive thing about these lights is not only how far down the road they help, but on the shoulders as well. I travel a lot of roads during hunting season that have the potential of elk, deer, moose, or bear running out in front of you. Being able to see not only down the road but on the shoulders is huge!

I have a mix on my truck. The lower light bars are set up to throw light out wide and then some of that bar is set up to shine down the road. The top bars on my truck are all meant to throw light down the road as far as possible.

I have a mix also. If you look at my front shot pic with the light off you can see the outer 8 lights in each side look a little different. These are the floods and the center lights are the spots.

I have all spot and did not get the combo light. I like the all spot version as the dispersion seems plenty wide enough to satisfy my needs.

The way my light is designed there are panels of LEDs that are put together to make up a specific length LED bar and they are basically 6" groups with 6 LEDs in each configured in a rectangular group. When you order the combo light the two end panels have flood reflectors while the center LED panels are all spot reflectors. Some folks love this design and some like me see no need as the lighting to the side is fine for our needs.
Here is an example of what I'm trying to describe. Same Amazon seller but at a higher price. Be aware the combo lights are a little more expensive and is one reason I say adding two LED floods is a more viable option for me.

I figure that if I ever want more side lighting I can add a pair of smaller LED lights on either side to provide the desired lighting.
Like this...

In hind sight I think we should have started an LED light bar thread  Mark is there anything you can do with this mess to make the LED stuff into a thread of its own?
