@aearles is already in Moab and scouting things out. From his report to me, it seems BLM & NPS have been busy. Willow Springs Trail for example now has signs up on camping and pit toilets, where there never were any.

As I reported about the Airport earlier, it seems they now have a NO CAMPING sign up with an exception for Easter Jeep Safari.

Just FYI. If you're looking for the free camping, it might be even harder to come by. I suspect they are trying to manage the large volume of people that visit Moab and the environmental impact of slobs.

Hey I know this is an odd question, but I can not make the trip to Moab this year. I have a wedding in England and the flights and hotels are outrageous$$$$$. I was wondering if who ever makes the shirts if I could buy some even though I won't be there. If not I completely understand.

You're welcome to come check out my set up. :-)

On a related note, I saw the earlier post about new no-camping signs. Any word on Dalton Well Road - whether or not its still open to boondocking?

TIA!

Dalton Well Rd. is open, there appeared to be a lot of overflow from Willow Springs moving there so I didn't bother driving it. I'll check again as we get closer to May.

@Pit Slave, I am in town but I work until 3:00pm. Wife and I are talking about going exploring this afternoon, maybe Tusher Tunnel or Gemini Bridges but no firm plans and I think it's supposed to rain. What time will you be around and where are you thinking? Feel free to text me @ (586) 596-5192.

New to the registry but I signed up for the meet a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything or received any emails. Am I missing anything? Just making sure you have my info.

MOAB 2017 - May 1-7

Post by yellowranger1 » Mon Apr 03, 2017 12:32 pm

So I'm a strong maybe due to some uncertainty with work schedule. For the sake of the list, would you guys rather I confirm when I know for sure or confirm now and potentially back out at a later date if it falls through? It would be my dad and myself in my truck, with the RTT so we'll be on the same boat as others to find a spot to post up overnight.

Hey Everyone! My name is JorDanée (I'll embarrass you in Moab by making you pronounce it when I meet you), and I'm the other half of MikeKey.

Our adventure in Moab is just 3.5 weeks away, and I hope you are half as excited as I am. It'll be great to see some familiar faces as well as meet a few new ones!

We've put together the itinerary as well as some house-keeping matters that haven't been discussed in this thread, and I'm coming out of the lurker shadows to share it with ya'll. I encourage you to read it, print it, and then actually read it. Maybe even bring it with you to Moab since maps have been included. If you need a copy in Moab, I'll charge you the print fee. :P

And without further ado.......

Thank you very much for taking the helm on this. Props to JorDanée, Mike and Aaron. This does remind me... Are we doing t-shirts? Of course I have no time to design or order things so my opinion means nothing haha, but shirts would be cool. Sounds like Morgan is pirating some stickers?

I was wanting to do shirts but, I don't have the cash to get that going myself. If anybody feels like starting a fund for shirts, count me in for at least (2) XXXL and possibly and additional XXXL and (1) XL. (I'll happily pay right now for (2) XXXL without even seeing what the design will be!)

I do have one idea regarding shirts, but it'll require some trust:
I can try to come up with a (I'll admit pretty basic) design and post it up for yay/nay. For those who want t-shirts, they could pm me and I'll keep track of a full list of names and sizes. If that list gets big enough for the shirts to be feasible to order, I'd get everyone to prepay via PayPal and then I'll order them. (Most likely only going to be one short color with only one graphics color on it, that keeps costs WAY down for custom shirts!!!!)
OR
Someone else can do exactly this and like I say, I'm down for at least two!!!

Either way though, it's trusting someone not to take the money and run!

From the screen printers I talked to, to get nice shirts made up, we'd need a run of 10 for each size. Someone has to front that. And I think we're kind of out of time for a screen printer, unless someone has a "hook up".

We could go with something like cafe-press for a low-quality graphic t-shirt that is guaranteed to shrink and fade in 3 months. But I'm not going to waste my money on that. :poke: I'm probably being picky because I helped a friend with his t-shirt business and spent a few months traveling the country selling t-shirts with him at concerts in the back of van. Ah, the hippie days. :D

If we have 20 trucks this year, that would be HUGE. BDS sponsors Fullsize Invasion and they don't even usually have that many trucks. Of course, it probably helps that it's during EJS. But my hope is that next year could be bigger, and someone like Thuren might be interested in helping us pitch in towards a t-shirt run if we slap their name on the website and on the t-shirt.

Going, to be honest, when I first posted this event and volunteered, I didn't really expect 20 trucks to show up. I think there were 5 of us last year last year for one day, 4 for another and then 3 the rest of the time. :excited: I guess that's what happens when someone organizes, lol.

Hopefully, this year will be a blast for everyone and next year will be even bigger.

I was thinking of using Custom Ink. My old work had shirts made by them, I've had them for about 3 years now and they are still holding up nicely!!! Custom Ink's minimum is 6. I'm in for at least (2) of (6) in XXXL. I don't know their lead time though. Heck, if I'm the only XXXL wearer and I have to go for 6, if I like the design I'll go for it just so I can get my size!!! : )

On a separate note:
I want to thank y'all that have stepped up to organize this get together!!!! Y'all are awesome!!!!!!
