Ok, so here is what I am thinking:

-meet at Tim Hortons in Drayton Valley between 9:30 and 10.
-the trail head is 56km, all highway, from Drayton Valley, so if we leave Tim Hortons at 10 we can be at the trail head around 10:30.
-the trail takes 3 hours if you take very little breaks. I figure we plan for 4 hours so we can have a bit of a lunch break.
-finish the trail at 2:30, then even with airing up tires or if we take a bit longer than 4 hours should be able to be in Drayton by 3:30. Graveltravels, Red Deer is 200km from Drayton so you would be back in time.

That work for everybody?

Looks like it's 270km from Athabasca to Drayton Valley. Not sure if that's too far for a day trip for you.

Hey guys, I have to back out of this one. My youngest just had an operation Friday, and his recovery won't include being in a truck for hours. Sorry! Once he recovers, or if I don't have them for the weekend, I'm in, tho!!

It's a good trail where you can take the easy line or chose to venture off and try some harder stuff.

Perceive about 500km to a tank if you're lucky. So call it 8 tanks of fuel. Roughly 120-130 leaving the Ontario region. And count on probably 4 tanks at that so 480. And another 3 tanks at 100$ a tank.

Call it an even 1000$ for fuel. 4 nights of hotels, 500$....

1500 one way...

Someone start a fund me account for this guy!
lmao yaaaa I need one of those fund me accounts and I shouldn't have night another sled last week or I may have actually done it!

I drive mine like I stole it. Though haven't used the winch yet.

If I am home, fingers crossed. I'll bring my 7yo along, he'd have a blast!

I'm out of the Ponoka area. But will know more in a few days!

Stock height, 315/70/17 BFG AT's. I think I can get some of the smaller 37's under this thing with no issues! I'm gonna try it next summer. I have a set of H2 wheels, and I'll mount a set of MTZ's that I have when I throw Boggers under my rubicon. If it doesn't work, I'm not out any money this way. I wanna stay 17" wheels, vs 18" like you went, as I tend to drive very fast on gravel roads, so the more sidewall I have, the happier I am, and my suspension is! ;)

dont don't drive gravel very often and my back is still pretty young so the roughness don't bother me to much.
my question i guess is what tires should i have on when we go for the trail ride. my 295/70/18 trail grapplers or stock 285/70/17 duratacs. cuz i was going to switch them over soon.

I'd think you would be ok with either tire. If we happen to get a bunch of snow before the 11th then the Duratracs would be better.

I am running Kelly Safari TSR tires 315/70/17 on the stock rims with no suspension mods. Only mod I have for wheeling is Myoung's locker bypass.

I just saw this thread tonight! I'd love to go but I'll be working till about November 21 st. My truck goes in for some body work on Nov 10th from a wheeling mishap this fall. I was out getting fire wood for my campsite and bent my front fender and can't open passenger door. Lucky for me, the damage was limited to only the fender.$1800.00 for new fender, paint ,badges......ouch! After cursing for about 5 minutes and a few smacks of whiskey back at camp,I got over it. New truck damage hurts. Didn't care much with my last ( old) trucks. Stupid fn mud flaps... Pinched against log and pulled fender down. I debated long and hard before putting them on and finally did in hopes of protecting the paint. Big mistake..... Their coming off, at least on the front.
That sounds like a fun run at brazeau dam and I'd be in like a dirty sock if I could. Next time. Hope you all have a great trip. Take pics and post em pls.

Sucks about the fender damage!!! I won't do mud flaps cause I am too afraid of damage caused by them getting stuck on an obstacle. What happened to you had just confirmed that for me again.

Hopefully this will just be the first of some more runs and you can make it on a future one.

Cheers!

So I'm thinking a change of venue might be in order. Drayton Valley is supposed to get upwards of 20 cm of snow on the weekend and could be close to minus 20 on Tuesday. We could go to the Bruderheim area just north east of Edmonton. Closer drive for everybody and not near as much water and ice to worry about.

Thoughts?

Sounds like I don't go back to work till the 12th! Pick a patch and let's flex some wagon!

Ps, any objection to a buddy and his f150 joining and marveling in wagon beauty? He can pretend to be one of the cool kids.
