Alberta 2014 PW Get Together

Post by JBM Power Wagon » Fri Oct 24, 2014 1:43 pm

So with all of the Albertans popping up recently I figured we NEED to plan some kind of get together, preferably with some wheeling as part of it.

I know it's going to be tough with Christmas party season coming up but I thought I would get things going with some potential dates and locations.

Dates:
Nov 15, 16
Dec 6, 7
Dec 13, 14
I know for me personally those dates work for the most part. I may have an evening thing one or two of the nights, but could still make something work during the days.

Locations:
Foothills west of Rocky
Brazeau dam area
TORE (Total Off Road Experience, private park out by Stony Plain)
Bruderheim nature area

Alright fellow Alberta PW owners, let's see if we can make something work, would be a blast!!!!!

I just realized I should clarify on the header. This is not only for 2014 PW's, but a get together for all PW owners, hopefully happening before the year 2014 is done. Haha!

I can make it, but west of Rocky, or brazeau dam area have my vote!! Hinton, and the brule sand dunes are a possibility, I've never been there!!

Sounds good! I will also post on Knight Krawlers on Facebook once we get an actual date as there are a couple of PW owners on there too.

If we do Brazeau that could work as a day trip for everybody, right? I know it does for me.

Solution: Ontario to Alberta about 3-4 day drive. Roughly 3550 km from toronto...

Perceive about 500km to a tank if you're lucky. So call it 8 tanks of fuel. Roughly 120-130 leaving the Ontario region. And count on probably 4 tanks at that so 480. And another 3 tanks at 100$ a tank.

Call it an even 1000$ for fuel. 4 nights of hotels, 500$....

1500 one way...

Someone start a fund me account for this guy!

I've done that drive several times!! After high school, I moved out to St. Catharines/Grimsby area for 3 years. All my moms family is out there. I love that area, but I am thouroughly a western man. Can't live without the mountains!! Come out this way 2wagons, and we will show you places so that you never want to leave!!
I'm getting my 35's on today, and I've contacted White Knuckle. They are planning to build sliders for the 14+'s soon, so I'm in line for a set of these. When are we gonna get together Gentlemen? If we were to head west of Rocky, I know plenty of fun trails. I am looking forward to getting out there!!

I'm thinking we do the Brazeau spillway canal run. Basically it's a dry river bed and the whole way you can chose how hard of a line you want to take and either play a little bit or take it easy. The only challenge is there are a few water crossings and in November they start to ice over so you can end up breaking then pushing through the ice.

My truck is my daily driver and I also need it for work so we won't go too crazy.

Good to see we are all thinking the same thing!! I need sliders before I try anything too stupid!! I put a dent in my 1/2 ton dodge's door on a stump, going in to ruby falls years ago, and never heard the end of that one!!!!! Don't wanna do that to this one!!! Yet! ;)

Haha. Agreed, I'm fine with river crossing and such, some decent little trails this time of year should be fun!

Anyone know of a good decently priced welder? That can build something like these?

So, I need to pull apart all my connectors and di electric grease them, and fluid film everything then. Hmm, maybe I should hit up my rubi as well. Smart bar is already dead and swapped out for a manual one on that girl .

What do you guys think of doing a day trip to Brazeau on Remembrance Day? Tuesday the 11th? I have that day off.

I have my kids that weekend, so I will see what they think. But knowing my oldest, he will probably be up for it, and the youngest will be happy to come along!

Ok, so it's looking like it might work out! jseal5757, where in AB are you?

FYI, I would also have my 8 year old son with me if any other kids are tagging along.

I'll post up in Knight Krawlers on Facebook as there are a couple of PW owners on there. And I'll post in the Dodge Power Wagon Owners group on Facebook.

Cool! My boys are 8 and 13. I do need to be back in Red Deer by 5:30 tho! That's my only limitation.
