MOAB 2015 PW rally!!!!!

Post by 05PWrockcrawler » Wed Jul 09, 2014 4:12 pm

May 2nd thru May 8th

Ok lets start the thread for next years Moab get together. I know it's early but I just got back and already want to go back and would love to go with other PW's. I don't know if I can make it next year but I am sure gonna try. We need to nail down some dates and get everyone on board and hopefully have a big showing of PW's. Let's hear thoughts on this event. Would like to see at least double digit PW's going together. If we start planning now then it gives plenty of time to save up money and plan for the trip and get time off work. Let's do this!

If we could make the trip coincide with a holiday I'd me more apt to go ... That way I use less vacation time. Thoughts? Perhaps May 23rd thru the 31st?

I have a cruise in March, so that's out. At work. Have an outage already scheduled for April through May. So that's out for me.

I don't care if I have to sleep in my truck and eat PB & J sandwiches on the trip to have enough gas money I am going to try to make it next year. We definitely need to pin down a date.

I know it gets hot during the summer, but if we can do it after the kids are out of school I can make it part of a family trip to visit relatives in Provo. Then I have a much bigger chance of making it. Mid to late June?

Yeah that's why I waited to go so late this year was so wife and kids could go. Wife doesn't want to go next year which will save on expenses. I can rough it if I have to and save a ton of cash it was expensive this year but well worth it. Dates?
1st or 2nd weekend in May?
Last weekend in May or first weekend in June?
Any other dates or choices? Need to get a date nailed down first and then go from there. That gives everyone 9 plus months to save and plan lol. No excuses then lol.

You gonna share that PB&J?? I'll probably be parked right beside you, on some trail, sleeping in my truck tent!

I have a badass little cooker that I plug into my cigarette lighter plug that I cook hotdogs and sausage on the trail for lunch which is pretty damn cool.

I'm in. I'll be there during EJS with my fam. But a June trip will be good too. Area BFE is free to camp at and is a great place to wheel.

I'm all about the cheap PB! I've got some pretty sweet setups for cooking too. in my way of thinking, a couple loaves of bread, a giant PB, and some brats, burgers, and hot dogs take up little enough space to justify 5 or so cases of beer. Thank god for the ARB fridge - keeps the supply of cold ones ready for whatever, even when it's 100 degrees out!

Yeah gotta have beer. Can't survive a wheeling trip without it. Makes the story's better lol. Don't know the name of it I'm offshore. Will look when I get home. Bought it at a truck stop. Just to try it and it is awesome. Put a whole package of hotdogs in it and hit the trail. Cooks pretty quick and then stop for lunch on the trail. Nice to have something warm every once in a while. Plugs into cigarette lighter and is small and compact. Really surprised at how good it works.
