Not bringing family they are all in school. Trying to get my uncle to go. He has the original Power Wagon but he said he would go probably but might just ride there with me.

Yeah it's completely stock drivetrain except he added lockers and 38" TSL's and is gonna try to add power steering. He wheels it all the time and drives it a few times a week to town.

Fuck it, I'm in. It's only a 2,000 mile drive. Hoping to get a small cabin, but I'm flexible. Count me in. I did Rausch Creek with the PW group and that was a blast.

So are the dates set in stone? I need to start planning in the near future.

Wow! Go to the Dominican Republic for a week and my event gets hijacked! :-) No biggie, it's always been about getting folks together and wheeling great trails in Moab.

Typically we've done the first weekend in May for a couple reasons, one, it's shortly after Easter Jeep Safari so the trails are pretty well marked. Anyone having tried Golden Spike can attest to how nice that is. The second is the first PWiM was somewhere around beginning of June and it was freaking hot. Especially since most of us were camping. Most of the campsites are first come first serve and so the shaded spots under the trees go quick. If we keep it early May, the heat isn't so bad.

But again, it's about getting as many folks out to wheel as we can, though we have to be careful. I wasn't given an exact number but I was told by the Moab rangers that if we get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 trucks we have to get a permit to wheel as an event. I'm willing to go through that process if we get enough participation, but there is an event fee we'd all need to chip in for.

For me personally, going May 1-4th is ideal this year due to the mid-term testing cycle for my oldest daughter. But, I'm not glued to that. Regardless of dates, a four day trip pulling the kids out of school for two days is about the most I can do. Nothing wrong with folks staying longer for more wheeling. I know if I made a 2K mile trip, I'd want a few more days to wheel too.

At any rate, let's set some dates for the folks who have to plan their vacations in advance at work. We usually start off the planning with double digit truck attendance and as time grows closer we end up with between 4-6 trucks that actually make it.

I'd love to see a big group of PWs. The dinner out at Eddie McStiffs or Moab Brewery probably wouldn't work then, but no biggie. Many of us stay in condos for the extra rooms and kitchen. I'm staying in a condo again and we usually do a big BBQ at the condos one night. That's probably still doable with a large group.

So let's get a date set.

2nd through 9th sounds good to me, although I am also in the same boat as Leif and would only be able to pull the kids out of school for 2, maybe 3 days during the week. That would put us being there Saturday (May 2nd) through maybe Wednesday (May 6th). As a group we have historically done one day as a scenic (green and/or blue, possibly minimal red trails) and one day as a technical (red trail) day. If we could make it happen to have these 2 days set up with the entire group for either Sun and Mon or Mon and Tues, that would be great. I too agree that if I was traveling the distance some do/will, I would definitely want to get more in than just 2 days as well. Hell, I used to only travel 2.5 hours to get to Moab and I would always want more time. With me missing this years trip, I am going to try to extend next years as much as I can without pulling the kids out of school for a whole week. Obviously everyone will be there whatever days they can make it, and do what they choose, but, what does everyone think about setting up the core of the event for Sun (3rd) through Tues (5th)? We can have a group scenic day and 1-2 group technical days. Anything before or after that would be an extension of the event itself. My travel days will end up being either Fri (1st) or Sat (2nd) to get there and probably Wed (6th) back home.

WELL....then it looks like I will end up being there for close to 10 days this time around. I would roll into town on Wednesday April 28 and then go south sometime either on the 9th or 10th. I vote to have another cinco-de-moab again!

So for all of those coming from the east, do we want to set up a location to meet up and role into town one big caravan of Power Wagons? I know that I'm not the only one that will be driving I-70 from the east coast to UT. Start out in PA with a couple of trucks and pick up more along the way. :poke:

Last night I showed my son (who is 8) the videos on You Tube of the 2010 Power Wagons at Moab and and some of the videos of this group and said "would you want to go there with Dad so we could 4x4ing with a bunch of other Power Wagons?"

His response was "ya Dad, that would be fun!"

Still can't say I am 100% in but continue to get closer to making it happen!!!

Haha, he's pretty pumped, was telling me yesterday how he was talking to his buddies about how we are going to go "4x4ing on the rocks" next year. Just some more pressure to find a way to make it happen I guess.

Pure pressure what ever it takes to get everyone out there! Lol. Usually one of my daughters goes wheeling with me. My 11 year old really loves it and has driven the PW quite a bit. Be rolling solo for this event I think. They all have school.
