A little custom SPOD mounting

Post by kgries » Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:15 pm

So I wanted a good switch setup for my lights, I didn’t like my setup I had on my last truck (rocker switches above the ebrake to a busman fuse box)
I felt like I had to reach too far and couldn’t see what I was pressing.

So I chose spod for this truck, but I didn’t like the idea of using the above the radio mount or the section cup. I wanted to have it on my a-pillar but there was no mounting option for that..so I designed my own.

The ram mount balls have a 1/4-20 thread and the a-pillar screws have a 6mm thread so that was a problem. I managed to find an adapter. 6mm make to 1/4-20 female.

I ordered some 1/4-20 3” rods for testing. I ended up cutting just over an inch off of it for this fitting.

I drilled a hole in the underside of the a pillar mount to feed the wire and drilled another 2 holes in the a pillar cap to feed the mount and wire through it.

The screen is in a great spot, I can just reach up and press it. It doesn’t get in the way of me steering or when I use the grab handle.

Ram makes a ton of mounts and doesn't do a good job organizing them. I poured through their parts building a mount for my truck. Also, someone put up a similar system in review on Amazon for a Tacoma.

It looks great and is very clean. Can you post some pictures of the rest of the SPOD install and the accessories you have attached to it?

Glad I saw this thread. I've been trying to figure out where I want to mount my switchpros setup and this looks about perfect for me. Very clean!
