Had talked to them, and I'm waiting for their XL version that they will be producing next. This version, may not actually be enough for our trucks. They have yet to actually test it with anything coming close to our weight rating.

Another thing about this product, is it really seems only geared for guys in SoCal. Yeah, you can wrap it around a tree or a rock, but I already have a tree strap. Not to many other places, besides sand would you want to be burying something.

Tree strap and be done. A tree strap has more use and less cost in my mind than a recycled helicopter water bucket

Yeah I am skeptical at best. I've had my PW mired up to the axles in mud and it pulled my XL sized pull-pal a couple feet before it got deep enough to hold firm enough to recover. I can't even imagine how deep I'd need to bury this thing in order to get the same kind of holding power.

I would have a heatstroke down here in Texas summer trying to bury that damn thing lol. I could see its usefulness in other terrain though, it just wouldn't be practical in my area

The more I consider this, the more I realize it's just for SoCal SUV's who are in sand. Maybe it might wrap a rock better than a tree strap... maybe... But other than that, if you can't bury it, it's just a strap.

I was one of the first kickstarter backers, and have been in the talks with them to do some testing with a heavier rig. If I can get enough time in my schedule to actually meet up with them I will let you guys know.

Like has been mentioned earlier, I am not sure it makes much sense a lot of places, but here in So Cal we have a lot of sand and places like pismo and glamis there is absolutely nothing but sand.

^^^^^ in which case you need a good shovel, deflator and an air compressor. Not a winch. This is a "pay money so I don't have to do as much work" solution if we are talking about sand recoveries, I think.

I carry all of that along with 4 Maxtrax, but when you are out by yourself it is nice to have options

Let me ask a serious question, a Pull Pal while weighing more will work just as equally well in sand correct?

But will also work in mud and dirt terrain like encountered in Utah. Kinda seems like it's better to have the more versatile tool.

Not sure that it would work equally as well in sand, but it would be easier to use. As for hard pack, I think the pull pal would be the gar better choice.
The pulse pal is also 3 times the price and takes up gar more space.

Like anything there is no single answer and everything has it strong points and downfalls. I just see this as one more tool in the bag, not the only tool in the bag

Shovel+Time > $1500 and 200lbs of Factor 55 accessories, Pull Pal, Deadman Anchor, Maxtrax, specialty deflators, and whatever new fancy ExPo item comes out

I've used the Pull Pal when mired in sugar sand here in FL. It definitely dug in deeper vs beach sand or mud but it definitely dug and held firm while I winched out of the wheel ruts I made by foolishly not airing down as much as I should have.

I have the larger sized Pull Pal - the "military" sized RW14,000. This may be why it worked so well. It's big, but fits in its entirety below my rear seat.
