MaxTraxx Group Buy on Expedition Portal

Post by Ducky's Dad » Wed Mar 16, 2016 8:20 pm

Just started, limited to first 50 takers. These things work. I started carrying a set on the PW last summer and they paid for themselves with the first recovery that couldn't otherwise be done without a tow or jacking and shoring. Just ordered another pair for the Tundra.

I am going to spend a few extra bucks and go for these:

You get the traction in the soft stuff but they are also strong enough to get you over a hole, ditch or up a ledge.

MaxTrax took down the link to avoid confusion and to keep the price secret. FYI, my pair was about $265, delivered, after the 15% discount. MaxTrax said this was a one-time deal and they won't be repeating it. The ones I carry in the PW came from a group buy on one of the Toyota sites last year, but that was with their former US distributor. Seems like they are selling these about as quickly as they can get them into the country. Limited colors and lots of back orders.

There has been some discussion about the Crux ladders on Expo Portal. Guys seem to like them.

what about using these. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive ... 60397.html
Would probably work in a lot of situations. Long and heavy, but cheap. An advantage of the MaxTrax is that they are tapered on the ends so that you can jamb them under the tread face without much digging, and the nubs help the tire pull them under until they grab. They also flex a little, which seems to help in some situations. And the MaxTrax are configured with handles that allow you to use them as shovels for clearing the area around the tires or under the truck. They are expensive, but mine are paid for because they got me out once. That's all it takes, everything else is gravy.

Too heavy and long ... I have that set ... They work well for what they are, but wouldn't be realistic for recovery situations
