Sirius box under back seat
Trying to figure out why my Sirius isn't working. Don't think it is the antenna. That all appears to be intact. There is a wiring harness that plugs into the little black box under the passenger rear seat that has a bare steel/aluminum wire hanging out. Looks like it should be in the plug with the rest of the wires. Does anybody with an 05 PW and satellite radio have time to post a picture of what yours looks like for me so I can see if that bare wire is supposed to go somewhere? Much appreciated.

Ground, and yeah, that'd cause it to not work.
Hard to tell in the pic, but is it connected to the connector and not the box, or the box and not the connector?

Thanks for the reply. Not connected to anything currently. I'll try and put it under a top nut to ground and see what that does

Still nothing. Ready to ditch the local radio stations.

I have an '05 QuadCab with Sirius, bought new. Sirius has never worked, even after multiple tries to sort it out.

Well that is a drag DD. Wonder if it is common? Would you have time to look at the wiring harness and see if you have that same bare metal wire not going to anything? I might just have to forget the factory stuff and get aftermarket components. Really want to have the convenience of satellite tunes when travelling. Over dealing with all the radio/CD/itune/mp3/ other methods of music. I like the idea of listening to my favorite tunes at the push of a button almost no matter where I roam.

Re: Sirius box under back seat
My PW is completely packed with crap right now while the GMC is moving furniture and the Tundra is in the shop, so I can't get inside to take pics. I even have boxes stacked on the driver's seat. Give me a better fix on where to find that wire: under the front passenger seat?, best angle from the front foot well or the back seat floor? I'll have to move stuff just to see where it is.
Don't know if it makes any difference, but my factory radio was replaced under warranty, and it has been in and out a few times for the work on the alarm and the Bluetooth systems. Radio display still shows all the Sirius info, but no sounds. Sirius couldn't help over the phone, tried twice with different techs. But that's OK, because now the BlueTooth doesn't work either, and the factory CD player is dead, too. At least I still have AM and FM.

Moving? Thanks for the reply. That bites that all your music options are exhausted except AM/FM. I can't stand any of the crap they play around here and I like all types of music! The receiver/transmitter/ whatever the heck it is little black box is located under the rear passenger side seat. I lift the seat bottom up and out of the way exposing the floor board and fold out storage platform. There is a wiring harness towards the front of the box and two antenna plugs to the rear of the box. The wiring harness has a bare metal wire that is just hanging there that looks like it should go to something. Not sure. Frustrating as heck trying to research it on the internet and stealership says they will throw a whole new unit in it for around $500.00... I 'll be damned if I do that.

Perhaps it's for the frame-ground? Like I said, hard to tell where the other side's connected.GunniPWguy wrote:Thanks for the reply. Not connected to anything currently. I'll try and put it under a top nut to ground and see what that does
And +1 for an aftermarket headunit... especially in the older rigs.
Re: Sirius box under back seat
Gunni , I've got the same bare wire and it's not connected to anything. Sirius worked perfect while I still had the free 2 year subscription 8 years ago .

Thanks a million cruz! That's exactly what I was looking for! Looks exactly like my set up. Guess I can rule that out of the equation now.cruz wrote:Gunni , I've got the same bare wire and it's not connected to anything. IT WORKS! All that I was missing was the radio ID number! Had to have truck on/radio off then hold CD eject button and time button simultaneously to reveal the magic code. Got Sirius now! No more crappy reception and crappy radio stations for this guy. Thanks for your input gents.
