Re: Welding Axle Tubes
I agree with the above about the front axle, I’d only weld the tubes as part of trussing it. As far as the rear goes though, if you’re sincere about a supercharger and 40’s down the line you may want to weld the tubes back there to keep the pumpkin from pointing skyward should the loose nut behind t...

Re: 2018 Transmission Failure
stock gears and 37’s is extremely hard on trans fluid and clutch packs if you drive aggressively, which I think he probably does. Resetting tire size in the pcm doesn’t really change that fact. again, 37s just went on 1k or so miles ago. your going to tell me 37s caused a failure in a month or so o...

Re: 2018 Transmission Failure
There’s no real way for them to even tell you have an upgraded torque converter or billet valvebody without tearing down your transmission, and why would anyone ever do that in the first place if it’s the engine needing warranty work? A built transmission is really a non issue. If you have an afterm...

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the new truck!
I used to have an 81 k30 crew cab long bed, if the body didn’t rust away I’d still be driving it lol.

Re: Unsolicited Advice on Tires
I have 37” bias iroks on a 1 ton swapped Jeep TJ. I do drive it on the road some, but I wouldn’t want to daily drive it. I’ve heard the radials are a lot friendlier but no first hand experience with them. FWIW the bias iroks are ridiculously loud and flat spot if they sit for a while, but they’re mo...

Been running dc power alternators in several vehicles for years with no troubles ever. The one in my truck is the 270 amp model, it also has an overrunning clutch on the pulley that makes the engine rev with a little more responsiveness

First things first, what tire pressures are you running when doing this, and are you on stock rubber?

Re: Torq's Build - 2017 RAM Power Wagon (Nickname Undecided)
Really like your build, keep it going sir! Just a word of warning on the hitchgate, it’s a solid product but if you get going too fast down rough roads with a heavy spare on there, you’re going to damage your bedsides where it attaches

Re: Auxiliary Battery in RAMBOX
I can’t speak to all brands of agm batteries, but I’ve installed a ton of odyssey’s in my vehicles and customers over the years and never seen any troubles with them. I know some people on this forum have had poor results when running multiple battery setups with agm’s though, so maybe they can chim...

But your saying the 37x13.50R17E had a softer sidewall than the 37x12.50R17D? That literally blows my mind... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Not exactly. It was a result of a few things working together. The sidewall itself is not "softer." The sidewall on the x13.5 is very durable/thick. The...

Re: AEV Dorkel Pre-Filter, who has one? Functioning?
I believe it’s a rebranded Donaldson top spin prefilter. If that’s the case, it’s actually completely legit. Those things centrifugally eject dust very well and cut wat down on filter maintenance. I have a Donaldson on a big cat 7.2 and that thing doubled my filter life

Re: Trans cooler bypass valve delete?
I believe they added the thermostat mostly to help meet more stringent CAFE regulations. Cooler fluid is thicker and more viscous. Getting the transmission to temperature as fast as possible wastes as little fuel as possible.

Rodeoflyer had the same problem not long ago, I believe he installed the delete and is happy with the results. Hopefully he sees this and can elaborate. Unless you live next door to low sky I cannot foresee a problem

I have a halotron 1 extinguisher in cab, but it’s only for my expensive shit in the cab ie lowrance gps ham radio laptop etc that would be damaged by a dry chemical extinguisher. I have a big dry chem in the bed and an onboard AFFF system for engine bay and gas tank. All I have to do is yank the saf...

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft failures?
It’s all about end use I think. I stuck with Aluminium because I likes the go fast and don’t want a heavier driveshaft. If I were a Moab guy like mikekey I’d probably have steel. If I went steel I’d also install the slip yoke eliminator I have sitting on the shelf. Options are good. Rear driveshafts...

Re: Aluminum Driveshaft failures?
There’s a shop local to me that does heavy duty aluminum shafts, it dwarfs the oem one in my truck. Much much stronger and thicker higher quality material. Pics in my build thread somewhere. Personally I prefer the shaft to be the sacrificial part in the rear driveline equation, that’s much easier t...
