Re: Tow rating

From what ive read I can only echo what you two have already said, suspension is much softer for the rock crawling ability.

Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!

The back seat will get used fairly often, but not daily. It will also play double duty for the dog in which case it will get folded up.The storage compartment isnt a bad idea but I dont think its ideal for me.

UPDATE

Truck looks great. Glad it worked out for you. Were you able to see any ghosting from the previous graphics? Or any other clues we might recognize to figure out what agency it came from? Check eBay for seats. A friend at work likes to buy auctioned ex-government vehicles. He finds some of his missi...

35s do look awesome, like they are meant to be. 37's come pretty naturally for this truck to, go for it and report back!

Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!

Start looking for a set of H2 wheels. Do I have to modify the center hole for the 4th gen rams too? I actually found a set for cheap and am seeing lots of info for 3rd gen but not as much on 4th gens. Both the 3rd and 4th gen rams share the same hub diameter, I have 2005 power wagon wheels on my 20...

UPDATE

This past Thurs my pops and I took a 1 way flight down to AZ to check out the truck. Out on the test drive I was a happy man, the truck was tight, bumpstops in good condition, skid plates weren't beat up, and everything worked! Then I started picking apart the body and slowly became more disappointe...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

Good information. The truck is in phoenix/apache junction AZ. I will absolutely look under the truck and check the diffs, bump stops, and skid plates. My dad decided he wants to make the trip with me so im taking him along for a litttle road trip. He has a great eye for paint work and should be able...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

Good deal, i like cruising with the windows down. Thank you to everyone for your input. I think they put the chrome wheels on because they thought it looked "upgraded," not positive, but they all match and will prob be changed by me anyway. I'm not sure the use of the truck but if it is in as good o...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

I'll throw a couple more pics up. It looks like stock bilstien susi to me but im no expert. I bought a plane ticket this morning, im going to check it out. If all works well its first test will be a 1600 mile road trip home...which by the looks of those tires, will be noisy. http://cimg.carsforsale....

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

Looks pretty clean. Check for evidence of things like lights, sirens, cop radios, gun rack mounts, push bars, jack mounts, etc. If it looks like nothing was ever modified, then it may have just been driven by some brass hat. Crawl underneath and see if there is any evidence of dings from rocks or t...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

If you go into the deal knowing it's likely to need some work I don't see anything wrong with it at all. These 3rd gen wagons are tough trucks, even with a hard life there's not many weak points. The only thing that I think could be likely to take a shit is the transmission and ball joints, If you ...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

Hey, if it suits your needs I don't think it's a bad deal. Yes some gvmt trucks get abused but they also get regular maintenance. I help the Red Rock ranger by driving the river rangers to and from river launching sites with trucks and trailers. some of the trucks have had problems but were repaire...

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!

Not that it means anything but it is still badged power wagon, they didn't remove any of the decals. Aren't most of the border patrol trucks marked as such? I guess I dont have anything that proves it was or wasnt. Not sure how much of a gamble im taking on that fact :duel:
