The rear locker does indeed lock in 2Hi and 4Hi. Just tested mine.

Re: 06 PW Winch
Trade it for a regular 2500 like the others said. The wagons have derated towing and payload capacity due to the suspension that they come with.

Re: Should I?
I've driven nothing but power wagons since they reintroduced them in 05. I've owned 3 of them (still have 2). Never had death wobble, lifter failure or broken exhaust bolts with any. The 3G design is prone to eating ball joints though. The only PW specific thing I had to replace was a rear locker co...

Re: 2006 Dodge Ram Power Wagon Title
Is there anything in the VIN that would identify a 3rd gen power wagon a 2006 specifically, just wondering because I was trying to figure out the value and the car fax just prices it as a normal 2500 with no option to add the powerwagon options also when at the dealership when they run the vin it d...

Re: Trans cooler bypass valve delete?
A little update.
I said in my first post that Ram was of little help. I did get a call from someone there that could get that part to the closest dealer so I could drive home.
Have to give credit where it's due.

Re: Trans cooler bypass valve delete?
Sounds about right, however the draglink falling apart and killing an entire family may be priority over their poor transmission programming causing failed transmissions or whatever other issues are reported such as a high rate of thermostat failures. I had the solenoid recall done along with ECM u...

Re: Trans cooler bypass valve delete?
Thanks for the link, Rodeoflyer. I have no idea what temp the light tripped, but when I changed the EVIC it was reading under 200. The light didn't come on until I was a mile from the cabin, so it didn't get driven far like that. As far as the question as to why they use it. IDK, probably cold clima...

Trans cooler bypass valve delete?
Anyone running a delete for these? I guess mine stuck yesterday. Local dealer says the OEM part is back ordered. This block acts like a thermostat for trans fluid. Sends the fluid back to the trans when cold, bypassing the cooler. When it sticks closed, the truck pretty much has no trans cooler. :an...

Re: Summer Gas
Straight gas is a rare find anymore. It seem to vary quite a bit by location. It's common near my place in WV. Usually 87 or 92, but the station near me has a sticker that says 89.5, which is good for the 6.4. You can check this link for stations that sell it in your area. https://www.pure-gas.org/...

Re: Summer Gas
I wondered if higher octane would gain mileage, but the of set in higher cost....I just could not believe it. Same thing last spring, all the sudden I fill up one morning and get on the road and the MPG meter just starts clicking up as fast as it can. My wifes Fourunner sees barely a .4 MPG differe...

Re: Summer Gas
I started running 90 octane Ethanol free in my truck when I'm at my place in WV. I stop and fill my generator and chainsaw gas cans there every trip, so I said why not? Costs more, but the mileage gain offsets some of that. Plus it's the closest station, so that shaves about 15 miles off a trip if I...

Random 4wd shift in progress on my 16 was the T-case shifter position switch.
I had that stuff with the traction control when it was new and they just re-initialized the ABS module. Never happened again.

Nice looking truck.
That's an odd transition between the grill and hood though. Makes it look like someone pulled the hood release.

Re: Axle Seals worn frequently?
None of mine have ever leaked. Front pinion shaft seal on the 07 has though. As posted above, check the vents first.
If the sealing surface of the shaft is damaged, it's going to continue to leak. Speedi-Sleeve if that's the case.

Re: Electric sway bar (smartbar) disconnect. Electric bypass
Good luck. I bought an 05 new and it taught me to never buy a year one model of anything. The lockers/smartbar would fault every time the truck got wet and they never could fix it. They worked on it on and off for two years. They made some of my payments and ended up giving me extra cash on a new 07...

I checked for the recall on my 16 on the owner site. It does say they will weld it. I'm not letting those retards weld on my steering gear, so it's not going in.

Re: Steering Pop and Vibration
Make sure your trackbar is TIGHT on both ends. If that doesn’t fix it I’d be looking st a front u-joint gone bad. The rear LSD in these trucks does not make noise or lock up and there is no LSD in the front. It is a gear type in the rear. While they are a Torsen type, all of mine have been a little...

Re: Steering Pop and Vibration
Might be the LSD. They can get a little "skippy" now and then. My 16 has about the same amount of miles on it and I'm not having any of those issues. But I'm on stock size tires. If it was a gen 3 I'd tell you to go right to the front axle joints. But I guess it's still possible you could have a bad...
