Re: 35" tires including spare in factory 2015

I am not sure how Mike fit that 35" under the truck. My 285/75/17 fits, but it is super snug. I assume he aired it down a bit, greased it up, and stuffed it under the vehicle with a pry bar! lol. :D Almost. It has 18psi of air in it. And I used my foot to jam it in there. It fit though. I hav...

Re: Diff protection covers or slider

Most of my wheeling is at a crawling. Where I am being intentional and avoiding the big rocks with tire placement. The full covers are really nice and offer a good level of strength and protection. But unless you are going full blast and smashing your diff on something, I couldn't see point for the ...

Re: Congratulations PWR on setting a new record today!

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff we ran away from. Oh, and oppressive rules enforced by keyboard commandos with compensation issues. Just don't ever sell. That's what seems to have ruined all the great forums. I've been on so many over the years that are ghost towns now, or completely ruled by Nazi's...

Re: Rocker protection

They might be providing some protection. I don't have any dings or rock chips in the panels. However most roads I go down are dirt. But I have been driving in and out of a gravel-lined campground for the last three weeks and don't' see any new rock chips. I would think the 3M or Scotchgard stuff wou...

Re: Rocker protection

New tires. And I'm not joking.

I noticed that those Durtracs throw tons of rocks compared to my Toyo's. Although, it's just as expensive as the sliders, but if your Durtracs are still mostly new, you should at least be able to sell them off and recover a few hundred bucks.

Re: LEDs for my 2015

This doesn't make sense nor does it address what I posted. You should not use HID with low beam reflector housings; there is no cut off and it blinds oncoming traffic. High beams will blind oncoming traffic whether you have halogen, HID or LED bulbs regardless of the reflector. The OP has projector...

Damn, that did not last long at all. Major suckage. Glad you're alright. I had a similar experience with a Mustang awhile back. Had it all of 4 weeks and then it hydroplaned in the rain right into a jersey wall.

Re: LEDs for my 2015

That may be true on paper but LED retrofit bulbs do not produce light in the same patterns as an incandescent or HID bulb. It has been my experience LED bulbs are the same brightness up close but lose range because of the unidirectional placement of the diodes. Again, there are advantages to LED bu...

Just word to the wise, 37's fit but just expect your inner fender liners to rub like crazy and tear up when you wheel. Ask GTOMike; and his is lifted.

Re: LEDs for my 2015

Honestly, the LED's are as bright as the projectors. And better suited in my opinion with less of the glare problem created by the housing that HID's usually produce in a non-projector. I was concerned about them not being bright enough, but that has been put to rest. The HID's are designed for the ...

FB is not my brand of Burbon, I don't use it. I'm too old to be worried about about trying to impress anyone. Tis a joke about those kind of folks. I knew you were looking for bang for buck + performance. With the 4.88's and 37's I think you are going to be happy. I might of gone that route if I wa...

Re: Tire? 35's v 37's & Nitto v Toyo

My PW is not my DD, so I can get away with a little more aggressive tire, I'm leaning toward a hybrid tire, either the Toyo RT, the new Nitto Ridge Grappler, or Discoverer STT Maxx. I had Nitto's on a previous rig the Trail Grapplers, and they were the worst tire I've ever owned. Now, I understand ...

I'm probably one of the few on this forum who has seen the AEV Ram's up close (both the 37" and 40" tire setup), or had a chance to ride in one (it was the 40" concept truck). Living in Missoula and being to the AEV shop multiple times I've learned a lot and been able to ask a lot of questions. I h...

The AEV makes perfect sense if you want the Wagon feel with the diesel pulling power. The question I want to know is, will the diesel go up the snow bank with the same axle hop? I haven't driven over any real snow yet. I suppose I will get to find out what that's like this year though. Congratulatio...

Moving to Boise

So, as some know, we've been traveling on the road full-time in our Airstream for the last year and half. Our youngest is having some issues that require us to commit to an area for awhile. So we have settled on the West. After comparing home prices between Colorado and Idaho, I settled on Idaho, sp...
