Re: Viair vs ARB
Last year I bought the portable ARB twin, thinking it would be a more flexible solution than on-board. It has worked well to air up 35s pretty quickly at 100% duty cycle. I'm now rethinking the "portable" direction - it is one more thing to have to remember, load, and secure in the truck. Bed space...

Re: Viair vs ARB
I’ve used several different viair compressors, but hardwired rather than in portable form. The 440 is definitely the way I’d go given your criteria. Perfect for occasional airing up. If you were going to do it on a more regular basis I’d opt for the 450 with its better duty cycle but sounds like tha...

Re: Viair vs ARB
I have the single arb as well as the dual and a co2 tank all in different vehicles. All pretty good options depending on usage, but if you’re just airing up tires 15-20 psi I’d definitely just get a viair if you’re wanting to keep it at $300 or less. You’ll get more bang for your buck with a viair t...

Re: Locker Bypass / Locker Engagement question
I never engaged my oem lockers at high speed, but I did run them at high speed plenty. The rear was fine and showed no abnormal wear, but the front case had hairline cracks in it after that kind of use. I personally think 3mph is overly conservative but I understand why they set such a low limit. Th...

Couldn’t get a picture today, but ran across a white 4th gen with 2.5 kings and white knuckle sliders in the conroe/woodlands Texas area. Passed by at a stop sign in my lifted van and gave a thumbs up That was me lol, I waved, not sure if you saw or not. I wasnt trying to be rude, just caught me of...

Re: Locker Bypass / Locker Engagement question
I really don’t know about the oem lockers, but arb air lockers can be actuated at high speed just fine as long as you’re going straight and not under heavy load. I’d imagine it’s somewhat similar, forward speed being less important than speed differentiation between drive wheels on the axle to be lo...

Re: Power wagon recovery kits
A hitch link from factor 55 or a similar product in steel to use your tow hitch as a solid recovery point. Perfect for a kinetic recovery strap etc. Good quality shackles. I prefer vanbeest but Crosby and gunnebo are also good. Snatch strap. Bubbarope is pretty legit, the polymer coating makes them ...

Re: ARB solenoids and reliability/longevity
But so damn true lol.Reloaderguy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:58 pmI always get a good laugh when different forums talk about how unreliable the Elockers are and how great ARB airlockers are in comparison. The air systems (not the diffs) constantly shit the bed.
Sorry, not helpful or constructive. Just kind of reminded me.

Re: ARB solenoids and reliability/longevity
I have arb lockers in my truck front and rear and the same setup in one of my wranglers, and have been using them for more than a decade in the Jeep. I went through so many solenoids in the first 5-6 years that it’s not even funny. The Mac valves are better quality but they shit the bed too. The onl...

Re: Sliders
If you take the diy approach, just be careful if you decide to weld the sliders to the frame. Apparently the hydroformed steel is sensitive to welding and requires a specific approach. I can’t think where I dug it up last exactly, but ram has released literature detailing their preferred methods to ...

The immediate area doesn’t have a lot of places to wheel, but if you’re willing to drive a bit there are some fantastic places. Texas has everything from seashore to mountain, rockcrawling to desert running. If you do make the move hit me up. Me and rodeoflyer have been meaning to get a Texas GTG go...

https://www.bluesea.com/products/7622100B/ML-ACR_Automatic_Charging_Relay_Manual_12V_%5BBulk%5D This is the one I’d recommend. It gives manual control as a backup to its automatic operation. Super simple to wire. Just hook the spod main positive lead to its output terminal and run a line directly to...

Re: PWJouster's Build - 2018 Power Wagon "TrailWhale"
Absolutely, if you’re just looking for maximum comfort you already got the secret sauce nailed with your shock valving and running disconnected. Only thing you’re really lacking is 37’s. They do a tremendous amount for muting small and/or high frequency chop and minor irregularities that otherwise i...

Re: PWJouster's Build - 2018 Power Wagon "TrailWhale"
One of the best things I ever did was ditch the stock swaybar in favor of a torsion bar. Biggest single improvement to my truck. At least on my gen power wagon, torsion bar was way better than no bar or running disconnected, and no bar was way better than stock. The tuned suspension works wonders in...

Another vote for the Thuren shackles here too. Plus they’ll help smooth out the feel of the rear suspension. Makes for less binding swapping from rubber bushings to delrin and stainless
