I vote for 37’s by the way :)

Re: Soon-to-be 2019 PW Owner — Question Re: 35s?

Yep 35’s fit no problem, might need to do just a little fender liner trimming. Same goes for 37’s, which basically fit with no modifications but just a little rub. Tire sizes between P-metric and Imperial LT can distinguish different tire construction depending on how the manufacturer does it. Gener...

Re: Welding Axle Tubes

Really no point in welding the tubes unless you truss it, with the exception being if you had a diesel and you crawl with it. Otherwise, I’ve not seen power wagons spin tubes. Either do a full truss or leave it be. This is what spinning tubes looks like, under a manual transmission Cummins. Cause wa...

Re: Pinion Seal Replacement

After some more inspection I’m just going to do the pinion seal. Everything else should be ok.

I also mis-remembered what was involved in pinion seal replacement. I forgot it was so easy. I was thinking it had to have the pinion physically removed but that is not the case.

Pinion Seal Replacement

The shop truck just clocked 200,000 miles and has some front axle work that needed doing. The front tires are wearing badly on the inside with perfect alignment so I’ve been planning to rebuild the EMF ball joints. This weekend on a trip the front pinion seal failed and is throwing gear oil and runn...

Re: Overland 1.5 inch Spring w/King OEM 2.5 Shock

I don’t see any hydro assist in there? It’s like you’re not even trying :)

The thuren links are great. Frankly overkill. Unless yours are worn out the Power Wagon links are just fine. The rear links (and the front links on non-PW’s) are more necessary.

I tried sawzall and got tired of killing blades. A 6” grinder did it quick. Believe I had to cut them into 3 pieces

Re: 3 Gen Stainless SRT Exhaust Stud/Bolt PNs?

Good stainless fasteners are used exactly for applications like that. Some hi temp anti seize on the threads and seizing won’t be nearly as much of an issue. As to which fasteners are ideal for the application I have no idea. I’d venture to say that if you wanted the best setup you might do what Cum...

Re: New rims and tires

Do all the arms. The biggest reason to replace them is to get the wonderful poly bearings in the thuren arms. You’ll like them. I cut my caster bolts off with an angle grinder, cutting through the control arm sleeve like Rusty did. Remember to only cut one arm at a time and replace it unless you wan...

Re: 2018 Transmission Failure

Do you have a tuner yet? Being able to adjust the trans is a main perk of tuners. I don’t know if Sheridan makes a valve body for the 66 but that might be an option too. Since you’re paying for the fix it doesn’t sound like much warranty is involved? I can’t fix the trans issue but I can fix the rac...

I run a FilterMag inside the diff case. It works excellent. The sensor magnet has stayed almost spotless for a few years now.

Re: New rims and tires

I was refering to the factory, rear-high attitude. I can't tell from his pic if the truck is level, low in the rear, etc. I can't imagine .5" longer Thuren arms (same as my Carli set) throwing it out of spec unless the rear is really low, tipping the front axle back. That would have to be WAY low!....

Re: New rims and tires

The longer Thuren arms don’t require changing anything else. The tires will clear the wheel wells better now and new joints are probably what will let you get on caster spec. The longer arms don’t require changing... stance? Unless you feel like some 20-wides and some panty dropping offsets.

Sliders and active tune mass module

It is pretty much impossible to determine what combination of vibrations will enter a chassis, and where and in what order. You can get very close with FE, but never achieve perfection. They were damn close back in 2003. They’re killing off the variables in 2019. I had this discussion with a buddy, ...

Re: AEV Ram!

I dig the AEV bumper for a lot of things, and I like the idea of a full bull bar. There isn’t a single ‘best bumper’. The stamped steel construction, high level of protection and overall fitment of the AEV is awesome if it is what you need. I really like the function of the bumper I built for my tru...

Re: AEV Ram!

This doesn’t look like a mall crawler to me. You're right, it looks like light offroading. [emoji38] Sorry but anyway you cut it those bumpers have no better clearance than the steel portions of our factory bumpers. They're pretty and I'm sure they are tough but what's the point if you hit the same...

Re: Sliders and active tune mass module

Fiat should have fixed the vibration problem at the source instead of adding electric weights to our heavy pigs. Design the problem away!!! The electronic dampers solve a problem that is impossible to solve with a rigid structure. There is no way to solve it at the ‘source’ because you always have ...

Re: 2014+ Front Ends Vs 2013 and Older

It is almost impossible to tell the condition of ball joints without being able to feel them individually. You can have totally blown ball joints and never be able to tell by moving the tire. There’s so little deflection there that you don’t know if it’s rubber or your eyes are fooling you. Ball joi...

Re: October is expensive truck month, part 2

Specifically Method beadlocks, which are supposed to be higher quality, fail all the time. Not from improper use. I see the spokes crack, the wheel ring itself break, and the beadlock rings shear off. The first two could apply to any Method. They are thin wheels that are cheaply made. They look good...
