Re: Dakar Wheels

Pretty expensive for low pressure cast. I was surprised that they are not forged too given the classes they are certified for. I don't do anything high speed or too crazy so I doubt I would break them. It is a lot of coin regardless. I spent too many hours at an impressionable age watching World Ra...

Dakar Wheels

Interesting option. Good offset for our trucks and tough as hell. They are salty though. I might stop in there and see them in person the next time I am down that way. Thinking the Matte Bronze might look cool on my blue truck. https://www.mainlineoverland.com/products/evo-corse-dakarzero-17x8-dodge...

Nice rig. Post some pics of the bumpers when you get them done. Anxious to see what you come up with.

Re: Recent Warranty Work

It is a little funny to me how the new truck owners find so many little faults with their trucks. Ten years ago guys had real problems with their trucks. Now, it’s down to almost nothing. These trucks are already at the point of reliability of the old import vehicles, and hugely more capable. Sure ...

Re: Painting rock sliders

If you really wheel hard like I do, even the Line-X won't hold up. You get big chunks taken out. Seen this with a few guys we wheel within Moab last year. If you don't do it that often, and sliding down things, it's a good option. Yeah, just about anything is going to peel off with the full weight ...

Re: Recent Warranty Work

Hello TommyG, A 3/4 ton 4x4 that is six years old, those don't seem like unreasonable repairs especially if you 'go off road. If it was me I would replace the other hub they usually fail pairs Rockauto has good prices, SKF makes the Mopar hubs. I will probably do the other side once it warms up her...

Re: Recent Warranty Work

I don't think they want to fix the unit bearing thing. They are too busy selling them. Don't get too worried. They are great trucks. I have appreciated knowing what issues others have had so I try to post if I have an issue. It has only been in once before this one for the exhaust stud issue that th...

Re: Balance beads ?

I got balance beads when I got my 37s last year. They were fine around town but miserable at highway speed. Vibration and thumping all the time.

Great looking truck. Congrats. I'll pile on the Carli bandwagon for a front diff guard. That thing is stout.

Re: Recent Warranty Work

I know. I love this truck and don't mind it right now because I have the extended warranty but I wonder how I will feel when two or three things go at once when I have to foot the bill. I am hoping that most of the gremlins work their way out before I am out of warranty. It happens though. I was a T...

Re: Painting rock sliders

Looks good... which bedliner did you use? Has the bedliner held up? I think it was Line X but I can't remember for sure. It was whatever my buddy used in his shop. I did not shop around for it we just used what he had. I was worried about them getting beat to death on the underside from rocks etc. ...

Recent Warranty Work

2012 with 64,XXX on the odometer Noticed a slow fluid leak on the right side. Was sure I would find an axle seal leaking but it turned out to be a transmission cooling line running past the right side of the motor. Had to be replaced. Glad I noticed before it failed completely and left me sitting. D...

Re: Painting rock sliders

POR-15 will hold up a LOOONG time. I painted the frame on my C3 Corvette with that stuff. It also stayed on my hands for an entire month no matter how much mineral spirits I used. That stuff is nasty. Use gloves if you work with it. If you get it on something, it's never coming off. LOL It is crazy...

Re: Painting rock sliders

We blasted mine then did a couple of coats of POR 15 then finish coated them. They are holding up really well.

Do good prep and use good primer/base coat and you will be happy with the results.

Re: Tire Feedback

Any rubbing/trimming with the tires, TommyG? I have no lift and am running a Thuren track bar and control arms. They do rub the splash guard at the pinch weld in the rear of the wheel well mildly when turning tight or turning with the wheel stuffed. In that third picture where the tire is at full s...

Re: Tire Feedback

I have 37x12.50 Toyo R/Ts on my factory wheels on my 2012. Got them over the summer and this is my first winter on them. So far I couldn't be happier. I fell for the balance beads when i got them and they were a little rough but it was easily corrected with good old fashioned balancing. No squishy s...

Re: Mini Japanese Power Wagon in Orange Crush !!! LOL

It makes me sad to think that most people would have been taken for an $8,000 ride on that one. It is a damn good thing you know your tech and had the stones to get in their face about it. I have often wished I could just buy direct from the manufacturer or a wholesaler and not have to ever see a de...

Some truths of drinking. Alcohol is the liquid version of photoshop. Looking at a 5 through beer goggles makes her look like a 10. The more you drink. The better she looks. You went to bed with a model, and woke up with a witch. Coyote ugly is when you wake up with your arm under her head. You look...
