Re: Retro Power Wagons

Here's an interesting article on the W200.

Re: Power Wagon Parts

Defiant is closed, unfortunately. Can I take his spot? Lol I got a light bar and some light brackets from Defiant when my truck was new, and the quality is as good as anything I have ever seen. When I checked with the guys at Wilco Offroad, they told me they had Defiant's production drawings and co...

Re: Go Rhino Bumper

Looks decent, but I had not seen it, probably because they don't don't offer bumpers for my 2005 PW. I'm still looking for the right rear bumper for the PW and front bumper for 2008 Tundra. Leaning toward ICI Magnum for the Toy.

Last time I asked, the dealer near me had sold exactly one PW in 13 years (not mine). Think their techs know anything about PWs?

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Thanks. Mine was full in September and the shop even topped off the slight amount that bled off when they tested the pressures. So I'm still befuddled. Just got back late yesterday because we were delayed by the caravan kerfuffle at San Ysidro. We were coming back from Yuma on I-8 towards San Diego ...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Finally got a chance to run the PW out to the desert over the weekend, with the new shims in the A/C clutch. Did not solve the problem. Temps were pretty mild this weekend but with the A/C set for max cold and recirc on highest blower speed, a long grade at max throttle got the A/C vent temp to blow...

Re: I had to take my PW to the dealership for work

I don't even know if my A/C is fixed, because it always works fine around town. My refrigerant levels and pressures were fine in September when the problem started. The A/C clutch now has a new factory shim in it that brought clearance from about .025" to about .010". Factory spec is something like ...

Factory fogs on my 2005 are from Hella and they are great, especially with the HIR capsule upgrade.

Re: New Rear Bumper?

Interweb says that's about a $1450 rear bumper and you paid $100 extra for the clevis mounts. Did they just stick them to the face of the bumper with nothing behind them? Web says the bumper is all 3/16" and 1/4" steel. Is the shell 3/16" with no gussets or bracing? Looks decent from the outside, bu...

Re: New Rear Bumper?

I have not yet decided (settled) on a rear bumper for the PW because I have to get a new front bumper for the Tundra due to an accident. Hoping I can find a source that will cut a deal on a twofer. Also waiting for the insurance to decide how much they will kick in for the Tundra repairs, because th...

Re: Fed up!!! (More dura trash)

I like Toyos on heavy trucks. Running AT-IIs on the PW and the Tundra, Nitto Grapplers on the GMC. The Nittos are fine on the GMC, and a lot of guys used to like them on PWs. Unless something better comes along, I'll probably stick with Toyos for as long as I own these trucks. Re mileage and big tir...

Re: Mojave edition.

I suppose I could live with that color if I couldn't get a white one, but I wish they would quit junking up the appearance with graphics, two-tone paint, gawdawful grills, white letter tires, mallcrawler wheels, badges, etc. Boy oh boy, does that thing make the 3Gs look simple and clean.

Re: Strange A/C Problem

The Ford actually has one or two shims behind the clutch hub already and you just remove one of the shims to tighten up the clearance. Maybe it's the same on our trucks. It's worth a try! My PW only had one shim behind the hub, and the only replacement we could find in the miscellaneous parts bin i...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Either the A/C problem is getting worse or I'm learning to manipulate temperature by throttle modulation. Got it to heat up in town today on a "normal" drive. Anyway, stopped by the shop to kick ideas around with the mechanic and he slipped a feeler gauge in the compressor clutch just to check it. M...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

If there was a way to get a camera on the compressor clutch to confirm that it is really turning off under those conditions... It's hard to imagine that it's not, but confirmation would be great! I don't have a GoPro and mechanic thinks the kids lost his, but we planned to do that a couple of weeks...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Have you ever had this problem occur at night when it's cooler, using the same driving scenarios? A/C works better when it's cooler, but I have had the problem at night when temps are high. Happened two weeks ago in Yuma, early morning, still dark so no radiant heat, ambients high 80s/low 90s, acce...

Re: Pro Cal Disaster 2018

I’m planning to step up to 35s soon and the procal is the only way I know of to correct the speedo. Don't know if there is anything special about the 2018, but most tuners that I have looked at have the ability to adjust tune and shift points for tire size. I use an Edge on my '05, and the Edge dis...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

RetiredBLM, thanks much for that info. I hate just swapping parts, but we are stumped, so that might be a cheap way to eliminate one more variable. I'll get a parts price from the dealer when I get home in a few days. The replacement fan was almost $300 for the part.

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Only happens at highway speeds or under heavy engine load (hills, passing, way over the speed limit, etc.). Coast downhill and it's cold. Drive around town at 35-45mph and it seems fine. Hit the freeway onramp and outlet temp goes up until you settle into a moderate cruising speed. Pass another car ...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

Did the replacement fan fix it? No. Just got back from Yuma last night and the A/C set a new temp record on the way home. Running up the long (20+ miles), gentle slope on Hwy 78 out of Westmoreland into the Anza Borrego desert at about 80mph, the A/C was set to max cold and highest blower speed. Ha...

Re: New Rear Bumper?

The bolts that the factory uses ain't that big for one thing. The factory mounts bend to easy.
Maybe better to bend the mounts so that they absorb impact? The Trail Ready also bolts to the receiver hitch, so that will stiffen things up a bunch.

Re: New Rear Bumper?

I was looking at the Trail Ready before I started watching a football game. Looks like it might be the ticket, but it's only 80 pounds. How do they do that on a 3/16" steel bumper? Any idea on price?
