Torque Pro app and Bluetooth OBD2 reports Trans Temp!

We're towing more frequently, so keeping tabs on tranny temp was something I wanted to do. This is way less expensive than adding a gage cluster, and also offers a lot of other opportunities to keep tabs on the info generated by the ECU.

M Viking 7/16" synthetic has seen 6 years of hard use with no problems...

It's not pretty, but still gets the job done. I protect it when needed with chafing gear or redirect the pull to avoid damaging it. It is frayed, but clean, because when it does get muddy, I wash it.

Zero on MPG...

If you spend the $$$ on rope, it"s other low weight attributes are what make it usefull. The weight helps in handling it, rigging it, and the safety factor of no mass when it breaks are why I like it.

Pics will help Trent. The locker lights should blink, then go solid. If the sway bar is screwed up, so will the lockers. I doubt they are locked in 4x4 without the lights or sway bar working. They can and do bind on hard surfaces. To test it, find a good ditch, and cross up the axles - IE, right rea...

Re: First time use with the new pull pal

I've only used mine once, but that prompted me to add a chunk of chain that attaches to the top of the spade. Once past the PulPal, I can pull it out easily. The larger alternator sure shows it's worth. With that much winching, I doubt a 3rd gen would have held up without dual batteries. And speakin...

Re: Wheeling impressions

Try 25 PSI. That's my normal for regular trails. To get a good baseline, air down in 5 PSI increments until the tire is flat. On my 315/70-17 Cooper ST Pro's, that showed I could go down to 8 to 10 and still retain the bead in sand or snow - as long as you don't hammer the throttle. At that, the flo...

Having had both 5100's and Fox shocks, I'd say they both are good. But, in this case, more $$$ does get you better equipment. Re: Synthetic winch line thoughts

7/16" is a lot stronger than 3/8" rope, unless your using the high $$$ stuff that's fully enclosed in a secondary sheath. Again, chaffing gear is critical for synthetic line. If you know any fire fighters, see if they have any old hose - we used that a lot in my USCG days as Coxswain on a 41' UTB. I...

There seems to be a problem with cold start idle programming. I know of 8 new 15' and 16' trucks, both 1500 and 2500, both 5.7L and 6.4L that are experiencing similar problems. One has had the PCM changed and that didn't solve it.

Re: school me on load ranges please

Do you tow a load over 4000 lbs, or have a hitch weight over 400 lbs? Do you load the bed to max weight? If you do, you might consider an E rated tire. Higher load rating means a stiffer tire, reducing tire squirm when loaded down. Socialism: A stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between...

Re: Synthetic winch line thoughts

Just like wire, synthetic requires care when spooling under load. Try to keep it neat and tight. Both wire and rope will cleave thru a messy wrap, but synthetic can actually melt doing it. Re-spooling can be left loose - as long as you plan on using all the line when winching. That's one of the best...

Longer isn't better. 90' on the drum is fine, be it wire or synthetic. As mentioned earlier, you get the most power on the bottom wrap. My gear includes several extensions from 10 to 50' in length. That allows me to use the last wrap. If you can afford it, this is the perfect time to go with 90' of ...

Did just under a hundred miles of dirt today. The Fox Shocks and aired down Cooper tire combo really ride nice. The shocks are good at slow speed, excellent at 45 mph and up (got up to 75 mph in spots). The ride is firmer that the 5100's on pavement, but they soak up both heavy washboard and big rut...

I'd be surprised if it happens for the same reason the diesel isn't offered - too much power for locked axles.
