Isn't the transmission flushed at 100K plus? This is the kind of stuff that scares me on Rams. Mines has done some weird things, but performs normally most of the time.
i didnt have it flushed with a flushing system.

oil was drained and refilled.

Re: PWJouster's Build - 2018 Power Wagon "TrailWhale"

i have the 100k mile warranty. I thought FCA cut the powertrain warranty to 5/50 for HD gassers? How did you get 100K? I'm shocked a truck that is less than year or a little over and tranny already failed? You must ride hard. According to some, flushing has it pros and cons and could have mucked up...

with how supple the suspension is, if my driving had anything to do with it, then it aint no HD. i dont treat it like i treat loaners is what i mean.

2018 Transmission Failure

25k miles on the truck. said it from the get-go...Transmission tuning is crap, shift logic is crap, lugging is crap, downshifts are crap. Trans is out for the count. Had it flushed around 20k miles. At 25k miles now. The other day it had a hard downshift, almost felt like i got rear ended... Then th...

Re: PWJouster's Build - 2018 Power Wagon "TrailWhale"

well, hopefully Ram will revert to a re manufactured unit and not the current re-assembled by a dealer tech. Although i have high regards for my tech and shop, the recent flush may have triggered something..... i assume ill be factory covered for awhile on transmissions so long as i stick to stock. ...

wait, are you saying you had the solenoid recall completed, dealer said trans looks like shit. you took it to a trans shop and then it failed two months after you built it aftermarket, or you built it after it failed two months after Recall? who did the trans build? everyone ive called says 68rfe on...

Re: PWJouster's Build - 2018 Power Wagon "TrailWhale"

i did every recall that dodge ever asked for. i drive hard but not too hard for an HD. have done minimal offroading, and with 37s recently and only a thuren lift, its clearly a factory problem, not mine. Warranty is cleared. ive had BMWs, jeeps, hellcat, audis, mercedes and never once had trans or e...

Re: Bed Rack/Solar/AC/Fridge/offGrid

Do you have any constraints figured out that you want to aim for and operate within? In a vehicle application you can usually get away with a surprisingly small amount of solar. If you’re only powering something like a fridge even in Florida heat that’s a fairly straightforward job. Fridges are pic...

ADD Dimple R rear bumper. Its A great bumper with A great build quality. No doubt about it. There is no reason to ignore this bumper, and brand. It has better clearance, not excessively heavy, less drag?, looks great. It is most certainly not cheesy for a PW. the design had one flaw which i might co...

Wilco universal flat bed mount is a cheap option, and sturdy design. you can mount it with some flexibility in the bed, but i shoved mine as close to the cab as possible.

maybe a PSC box but no Hydro? i dont know the true internal differences or if the lash is addressed with tighter meshing gears, but i assume anything is better then a factory distributed steering box. Im certainly in the same position as you, at 25k miles its just so slack..i hated it at 10k. i may ...

Re: '16 Steering Intermediate Shaft advise

did you address the interior part of the shaft? look under the dash with a light, and look at the joint, see if the rubber isolator allows excessive slack when turning the wheel. EMF has an intermediate shaft bushing to remove this slack, and it certainly does to an extent. it will feel slightly sha...

Re: Tow/Haul Mode in Back Country

the best part about these hemis is the impressive engine braking. when driving aggressively, ill use 30%+ less braking when in tow mode. the truck is much more effective and will more often be in the gear you want. It shifts later, but faster. Way less lugging on the engine. the throttle is more con...

Re: Tow/Haul Mode in the Back Country

if you dont mind the harsh shifts, possibly louder exhaust, and sporty drive.... tow haul 100% of the time.

im 230lbs...thats enough of a reason to use tow/haul.

if your asking about when your offroad...not necessary, just shift to 5th to lockout 6th.
