PW got its first winch recovery today!

It was only a matter of time! On the way from Soldotna to Homer, AK this morning I noticed a truck tilted at a crazy angle in the snow and a couple folks working on it with a snow shovel. Turns out this couple had gone to work on their future home for the weekend and accidentally missed the edge of ...

Re: 2014 Power Wagon Payload Capacity

I'll have to go out and look tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a sway bar under the back end of my 2015.

Oh yeah, if you want to "explore" out west you can kiss your paint goodbye. Sage brush and pinion will make real short work of it. Might as well get it over with on your own terms ;)

Sweet looking truck, Ianewk. Will that wheel and tire combo clear the fenders if you need to flex it? Looks like it would be a close fit.

Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!

This may sound crazy, and I don't know your situation so this may not work for you, but do you even need a back seat? For the many years I owned my Silverado I hauled passengers maybe a handful of times. The other 99% of the time I had the back seat folded up, using the rear of the cab for storage a...

You don't need extra speed, you need to downshift early and get the engine RPMs up.

I was surprised it actually had a winch instead of a wench.
Wench costs extra. Lots extra.

No problems. Only wear and tear would have been on the flashing indicator LED.

Make sure you ask about that "electronic sway bar discount" ;)

Re: Rock Sliders?

My sliders (with an outer round tube) just paid for themselves this week by keeping me off of a rock that definitely would have gotten into the rocker panel and door. Even if it's not as "steppy" as you would like, get the outer tube.

Re: New-used PW owner lift Q?

Not sure about the rear, but that's definitely a spacer kit up front. Our trucks come from the factory with a bit of rake, so if you're about level I'd bed that the previous owner didn't do anything in the rear, but I'm about 4000 miles away from my truck so I can't go compare ;) Sent from my iPhone...

Re: Low_Sky's 2015 Power Wagon Laramie

Thanks for the kind words, guys. My buddy in WA has some trails near his house, so I'm finally going to take it out wheeling this weekend. I'm pretty excited, but I have to play it safe. That's just the start of a 3500 mile road trip. Can't afford to tear anything up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapat...

Re: Limp mode through water?

What makes you think your stock 2015 truck (of any male or model) is pretty well waterproofed? With all the electronics under the hood, if you go bombing through deep water something is bound to get wet. The manual says it can ford 24" at 10 mph and 30" at 5 mph. I'd still expect something, somewher...

Re: 2014 White Knuckle Sliders installed

How are them bad boys working out for you? I've got mine off right now and JB and I are doing some mods, heavier expanded metal to fill in the gaps for rock chip protection and extending the step grip. Funny, his mounts are exactly what they came up with except for the shim. He actually welded in a...

Re: 2014 White Knuckle Sliders installed

How long did it take to install them? Any other tips than remove the coolers & the rear skid plate? My sliders were custom welded, but they mount in similar fashion. My lessons learned are: 1. Make sure the parking brake is released. A tight parking brake cable makes life difficult. 2. You may need...

I'll be going through BC. I guess I ought to play it safe and pick a store on my route and make an order for store pick-up.

Re: Good deal at princess auto for us Canadians

2wags, are these going to be on the shelf at pretty much any Princess Auto? These are going on my "buy in Canada" list, along with good gas cans. Just wondering if I can plan on loading up a shopping cart when I cross the border, or if I need to pre-order over the phone for in-store pick up. Sent fr...

Re: Wheel bearing going out with less than 8000 mi?

The stealership checked out the wheel hubs, says everything is "within Chrysler specification". I guess I'll keep an eye on it and try again if it gets worse. They replaced the boogered stud on warranty with no problems. I'll have to take it to a tire shop to have the VibraTracs balanced before my 3...

Re: Wheel bearing going out with less than 8000 mi?

Only on hard LH turns as far as I can tell, and I don't think it's tire noise. It's a dull, cyclic, metal-on-metal sound to me. Sounds just like the early stage of a front wheel bearing that went kaput on my Silverado last year. I jacked up the left and then right sides of the front end, and both ti...
