Re: Rearview Mirror glue

I do my best to avoid anything fluorine-related. Shit's bad yo. When I was in the cylinder retest industry, our process/product didn't require devalving cylinders (unlike traditional hydro). We got a LOT of specialty stuff (read: real expensive stuff). One of the semiconductor plants in town had a b...

Re: Rearview Mirror glue

Unless it's electronics grade isopropyl it will leave a residue. That could be part of the problem. Don't know, haven't tried flying things to glass aside from windows with glass adhesive. If the pad is big enough you could probably score with 3M VHB if this round doesn't work for you. All I get is...

Re: Rearview Mirror glue

Yea, the last two were within temp spec. This one, there's not much I can do about it. Truck doesn't fit in my tiny-ass garage. Cleaned everything real good... scraped the old glue, clean with windex, clean several times with alcohol. Used the prep-pad to clean and prep the surface. The last two pop...

Re: Rearview Mirror glue

I've scraped the old stuff with a razor... both windshield- and button-sides are clean. Alcohol wipe both sides, let it dry. Then use the primer/prep wipe with the kit.

If this one fails, I may just take it to a windshield place.

Okay, it's not rocket science, the instructions are written so a 4th grader could follow and understand it... dafuq am I doing wrong. Original mount busted off the windshield thanksgiving-ish. Held for years, no issues. Bought a tube of Permatex stuff... "metal buttons only", okay, that's wh...

Re: Like I really needed more lights on the dash...

Damn mule, you should do a radio 101 thread for beginners. Looks great, nice clean work as usual sir! Anything in particular? Might start a new thread if there's interest/worthwhile. Basically: Baofengs suck, FRS/GMRS is great for local/group comms; if you need more range than what they provide the...

Mototrbo XPR5550e. Mobile flavor of the 7550 I've carried for a while. Sweet mother of $DEITY that HCH speaker is LOOOOUUUUUUUUUUD. :jawdrop: There's a "Volume Offset" option in the codeplug, defaulted that to +6 like my portable. I think -20 might be a more appropriate value. :o Even at the setting just above muted, it's still just a touch on the loud side. Halfway up...

Re: Shell Rotella T6

I run it in my dirt bike  It doesn't have the detergents/friction modifiers that "normal" car engine oils have. Diesels don't need them. Moto has a wet clutch, friction modifiers will render the clutch inop in short order. But those friction modifiers may benefit gas motors. https://photos.smug...

Ordered a 3-pack of boat/rv/sofa/game-table cupholder inserts . Measured out the width of the space the old cupholders left me, a little under 9" wide. Measured out the space I had behind the dash, and how much I needed to still access the under-bench-seat cubby. Buzzed out some MDF, laid out and kn...

Sneak-peek in the PW Pic Thread last week. Closing in on completion of it, so ... here you go. Original cupholders were kinda-busted when I bought the pickup (used). Not a huge deal, they worked fine folded-down but didn't align or latch reliably folded-up. I never folded them up. (USB drive for the...

Why don't I have cupholders? I took them out. Something broke, and the tray would rattle. Quick trip up to a radio site, fix a node that can't get GPS/time lock. Been a "work on the truck and get it ready for winter" long-weekend. Old yaesu-vertex has been misbehaving for a while... quit passing audio from mic to RF deck.
