Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Great write up. This should be a sticky. Thank you sir. I wish I would have taken some pictures or vid while I was doing it, but I had limited time and was running out of day light. I had to figure out how to do it, and what tools to use during the process. If I had to do it now, I think I could do...

Thank you.
Sorry, typo. I meant +20. These are the machine w/ black.

Re: Anyone have pics of Thuren front bumper on 14+

I tried to figure out a bull bar for it. I’m sure it’s doable, but to me the bull bar concept needs to be pretty serious in structural terms. The bumper was not designed for it and it would take some work to make a legitimate bull bar that will work. Yeah, I see what you guys mean. To follow the no...

Re: New to the registrey

Hey, John, welcome to the forum! I'm down the Pike (Sumneytown, that is) in North Wales. My '05 sits more than it drives, but I get around. You have a great list of mods. I'm interested in your exhaust. I've wondered if Pypes does something with acceptable clearance for offroading. I'm sure we'll r...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Use a torch to heat up the plastic fender well where it needs to be pushed back. Move the heat around a bit. You don't want it to catch fire or melt a hole through it. It will get a bit melty and smear a bit. Use the heat and a large metal spoon to message the fender back toward the newly clearanced...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Spray paint the cut pinch weld at this point. Remove the bungees. Reattach the flare retainer nuts.

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

At this point you have to get under the truck. Get something to rest your head on, because you will be reach up underneath and behind the fender well. I don't have a picture of this but I have copied here again the piece of the pinch weld you have to cut off. Notice the first drill hole done with a ...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Here's the Milwaukee hack saw I used and 2 different blades. I used the Diablo blades to cut longer straighter areas more effectively. I used the step bit to make relief cuts in the pinch weld from underneath/ behind the fender well. The key hole bit was used to redirect and make long enough cuts to...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

After cutting the nub off the flare, take a couple of the lower flare retainer nuts off with 8mm socket. Use a short bungee to hook in the lower flare hole and pull that out a bit, attach bungee to tube step if you have one. Use step bit to make a hole in the furthest most corner of the plastic fend...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Here are where the fender flare nub gets cut off and where the pinch weld is positioned once you cut off the flare nub. You will reveal about a 1.5" of the pinch weld once the nub of the flare is cut off... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191129/2b09b1047a8f1ac8c6382807b09eb879.jpg https://upload...

Re: Fender work on 4th gen

Here's what gets cut off...note a couple holes drilled with the step bit in the pinch well. These are relief holes where I could begin in a different direction with the keyhole blade enough to switch to Diablo blades which cuts better, stats sharper. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191129/e32139f...

Fender work on 4th gen

Showing some pics here after the fact of how to trim the pinch weld with zero cutting of the fender well and only minor cutting of the fender flare. Most You Tube vids have you butchering the plastic fender well to get at and cut the pinch well with a metal cut off wheel. I prefer to keep debris and...

Re: New to the registrey

Some more pics the day I put 37 x 13.5 on there on Raceline 17 x 9 x 20 mm offset. I did a little work to the rear of the front fender well and pinch weld. I cut off some of the pinch weld from behind the plastic fender well without butchering the plastic. I used a small Milwaukee Hacksaw to get in...

Re: New to the registrey

Pics coming when I get back home today. I have to take the wheels off to put the black center caps on that I was supposed to get. While I have a front tire off I will try to get closer pics. I kept the cut off pieces just for that purpose.

Re: Anyone have pics of Thuren front bumper on 14+

I've been eyeing up this bumper for my '13. A couple of questions: 1) What did you guys do for finish? Paint it yourself? Local powder coater? 2) Don't you wish Don would have an optional bull bar for some deer / brush protection? One thought I had was to have my own bar work fabricated and welded o...

Re: New to the registrey

Here's my PW on the Graffiti Highway this past Sunday. Had to brave a sudden snow storm on the way there. Part of Rte 61 was shut down by State Police, people sliding off the road. Brought the quads up for the kids to blast around on. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191129/fe0dfc45ca38a4576e2a27a...

I'm in Upper Salford, near Spring Mtn / Perkiomenville area. Originally a Plymouth Meeting boy. I have been stalking the registry for a bit. So far the truck has only been off the road in some trails up near Centralia and on the beach around Avon on Hatteras. I've been trying to get it a little bit ...
