Limitations of the '16 PW when off-roading

Hi guys, My recent time in Moab has made we ponder what, if anything, I might want to mod on my truck. For now, these are just thoughts based on what I saw, did and experienced. I haven't yet decided whether I actually want to go down the route of trying to make the truck more trail capable, or whet...

My trip to Moab - April 2017

Hi everyone, Not sure if posting a separate "trip report" is considered a no-no here, given that there is a dedicated pictures thread...... If that's the case then, mods, please feel free to move or delete as appropriate. Yesterday I got home from a trip to Moab with friends from another forum I han...

Re: Fan stuck on?

Hi everyone,

Left Moab this morning and am cruising south to Forest Gump point and then down to Flagstaff for the night, then home tomorrow

Everything has seemed normal since I revved the engine to 4000 rpm, that seemed to force the clutch to disengage

Brakes, low range

Hi guys,

I'm running stock tires on the truck. When in low, it idles slightly higher (600 rpm) than usual

Re: Fan stuck on?

The "morning roar" seems normal based on what I've read. Mine does that. I don't want it to roar permanently :)

Re: Fan stuck on?

Understood, but the belt driven fan should not be roaring like crazy ALL the time :) I found a post on another forum where someone was seeing the same issue. They recommended trying to rev the engine to 4000 Rpm to force the fan to disengage. I tried that and it seemed to work, the truck is back to ...

Fan stuck on?

Hi everyone, Having fun in Moab. The truck is performing very very well and I am very happy It seems that the belt driven fan is stuck on. No matter which speed or gear I'm at, it's on. Even after hours of cool-down it stays on after I restart the truck. Is that normal? It seems to have started afte...

Re: Brakes, low range

Thanks guys. I wonder if altitude had any effect, we were at 6-7000feet at the time

Also a good point about the slightly higher idle. I actually did use that to crawl along and maneuver

Brakes, low range

Hi everyone I'm in Moab with a group of friends. Today we ran top of the world and the truck generally did really great On 2 occasions I felt like the brakes could barely hold the truck. One time was after lunch: I was In reverse and low rang and I was backing down an incline. Stopping happened only...

Re: Just got my Black 2017 Wagon

Nice truck!

I do really like how the '17's have A LOT LESS chrome then the '16's.

Congrats on the new truck, enjoy!

Re: Common spare parts to carry on trail?

You could always just tow a second wagon round for spare parts haha. Do a full axle swap mid climb if need be. Really depends on the condition of your truck. Things do just go but not often. U joints yes and maybe a front axle shaft(I have broken the yokes twice) front drive shaft maybe. Wouldn't w...

Re: Common spare parts to carry on trail?

Hello LagunaH1, honestly in a well maintained or new PW I don't think there is anything that you can anticipate breaking that would merit bringing a spare. Very cool. Last time I was in Moab, it was in my 1997 H1. That truck was awesome in many ways but needed a lot of care and feeding :-) Sent fro...

Common spare parts to carry on trail?

Hi guys,

I'll be heading to Moab in a few weeks and am wondering: What spares do you typically carry with you on the trail?

You mean the stuff on the underside of the hood? Yeah, it looks fine, haven't really paid much attention to it....

Engine bay cleaning?

Hi everyone,

Probably a n00b question:

How do you guys keep your engines and engine bays clean? Mine has gotten pretty dusty and I don't like that.

Is it safe to just spray it down with a garden hose to get rid of the dust?

Where are you located?

-You might be able to persuade someone to meet up and let you drive their truck.

Re: Thinking about buying but for some questions

I don't think I can add anything which hasn't already been said. I *love* this truck. I love the ride, which is definitely a TRUCK ride, but a really comfortable one at that. -That's what I wanted. I spent quite some time watching the local dealers inventory on their websites and found one at a loca...
