Re: Towing Capacity

Have a buddy that towed ~10-11k loaded bumper pull a couple times around here with a '11 PW and ultimately (and sadly as he loved it) chose to trade up to a diesel. He said the stability with weight distribution, etc wasn't bad but the 5.7 was just enough to keep it moving, of course rev'd like heck...

Re: Tires

Toyo RTs work great on ice sipped with high pressure and great in snow when aired down. Nice compromise tire. I'm finding the same thing. I haven't put them on super terrible ice yet, but especially in 4 with some weight in the bed, traction on snow/slick roads seems to be quite good. Especially ma...

Re: Another Airlift 5000 Ultimate/Daystar Cradles Install

Nice! Is there a reason you guys are going with the Airlifts instead of the Firestone kits? Not sure if I missed it or if it's the only option on 14+ trucks. I have a 2012 that I'm really thinking of putting a set on

Re: Brake pedal shakes violently on washboard road ?

My '12 has always done that. Like you said, washboard roads especially, sometimes you hit just the right frequency or vibration and you can feel the whole pedal set rattle a bit.

Re: Upper Control Arm Play

I have a 2012 PW, and have Thuren's arms on my truck. The UCA on my drivers side also was a little loose. I tightened the bolt/nut, and it hasn't made any noise since. Just like you, I could grab the arm and wiggle it, moving it maybe 1/32"-1/16". This was on the axle end of the joint. I say tighte...

Re: Upper Control Arm Play

Thanks! I just went out and did some more testing/looking. I found a point with a jack under axle that I can induce the most amount of play and looked close with a flashlight, etc. The pivot ball appears to be very tight and no visible play. The actual joint however has a lot of slop/play in it. Pro...

Upper Control Arm Play

I finished installing a bunch of Thuren parts and everything went on really nicely. However, my driver's side UCA wiggles a touch. Occasionally, even with weight on the truck, you can yank the arm and feel a "thunk thunk thunk" back and forth wiggle at the frame end. I've re-torqued it a couple time...

Re: Trackbar install questions

So far so good. I torqued it all down seem to have no play in anything. I did some test driving and on washboard type bumps I sometimes feel almost a little clunking feel, but I torqued everything super tight. I wonder if it might just be the new rigid suspension and bushings transferring shock and ...

Re: Intune i3 vs i2010?

Sean pointed out that it has a more durable case, but's essentially the same device. It's apparently a little faster and can do multiple vehicles, the latter being unimportant to me. I may shoot for the newer one just for long term supportability and new features, etc. I'll update everyone either wa...

Intune i3 vs i2010?

Just about to buy the i2 with hemifever tuning and saw that apparently it's end of lifed? Does anyone know if the i3 does anything more worth paying for? How good is Diablo at supporting new products? I'm almost wondering if I'll get better support in the future if I go with the newer unit. But othe...

Trackbar install questions

Got my Thuren control arms, shocks, and coils in. Oddly enough, both rear upper arm bolts came out without cutting or moving the exhaust. Coils went in nice, though I fought with the shocks a bit, mostly because once they extend they're a pita to deal with lol. So I got my trackbar adjusted and tigh...

Re: Almost time for tires

So I can half answer your question :) I put 35" RTs on my 2012 a couple weeks ago. There's no doubt, they are heavy tires, which contributes a touch to mileage loss more so than size I think. I haven't measured many tanks of gas yet, but I think it looks like what I've read a lot, you can probably e...

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

Wow that's crazy! I have no doubt these tires will be tough. Thanks Tankerzak for the input. I've run the BFGs at pretty much standard pressure or occasionally on light load. Guess it will be time to finally have my tpms thresholds adjusted and not run these super heavy/rigid tires at such high pres...

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

Thanks everyone! I actually ended up going with the RTs. Having them installed later today. I know they may still be squirrely on the ice/blacktop but they seem well liked and a good balance. I figure I'll give them a try this winter and will run a more AT-like tire next year if these end up being t...

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

Hmmm. That's a good question. I have no idea. I really contemplated doing a winter set with studs and a summer set without. Just like so much of CO, I always wonder what percentage of the time I'll be driving studs down dry roads. But you're right, they're sweet on an icy road.

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

I have to admit I've been tempted by the STTs as well. They seem plenty aggressive. My guess is that like you guys have said, tire pressure, driving behavior, etc probably makes more of a difference than MT vs RT vs STT.

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

Awesome! I was thinking the same thing. Discount said it's more like 1700-1800 without free replacement (313-RT, 340-MT plus install, etc). For a truck I only put about 7000-8000 miles a year on, I'll probably get bored with them or they'll dryrot before they wear out tread-wise :)

Re: Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

Good input so far guys. I appreciate it. I've siped Goodyear MTRs before and I agree, I thought they did better in snow. No doubt, driving smart is a big part of it. I'm finding that Toyos in general will be spendy. I stopped by the local Les Schwab. They carry all models in 35x12.50 in stock. But 5...

Toyo RTs vs MTs in snow/ice

I've pretty well decided on giving Toyos a shot from all the recommendations and love for them that I've heard. I've wanted MTs for years but all the darn threads on here with people liking their RTs has me reconsidering. My truck sees offroad fairly commonly. I drive at least a few thousand miles p...

Ha, thanks Will I hear ya. Out of curiosity (I'm sure you've probably mentioned it elsewhere) but how much lift in front do you think the 3" springs netted you? Quite a bit?

Re: Thuren 2" or 3" coils?

Interesting! I hadn't heard much about the ride quality of the shackles, only the increased height. Sounds like they'd be valuable to have. I may consider going that route. I'd assume with the 3" coils there's pretty little chance that it lifts it so much that 35s look way too small on it.

Re: Thuren 2" or 3" coils?

Thanks for the tips! That makes sense. I'm leaning towards trying the 2s. If I recall, in the earlier days Thuren springs yielded quite a bit of lift. I'm think that for 35s, the 2" springs will be a nice refresh and in the event they provide a lot of lift (or my rears having sagged some), I'll just...

Thuren 2" or 3" coils?

I'm almost ready to complete the suspension and ditch the puny tires on my 2012. This forum has been a huge source of info. Like many folks, because of towing, spare tires, etc. I think I'm going to stick with 35s for a few years, probably Toyo MTs. I already have the thuren arms, track bar and shoc...
