Re: Gen 3 Exhaust Manifold Removal Quesiton

As stated above, do not need to lift the engine to do either side. I've done both exhaust manifold gaskets and they are not bad. The passenger side is a ton harder than the drivers as the engine is closer to the frame rail on that side but not too bad. I just did the exhaust manifold gasket on the d...

Few upgrades to the Gator

Had a couple days to play in the shop so decided to do some upgrades to my Gator. Put on a 4000lbs warn and added a 2" receiver (handy for pushing wagons into tight spaces or using for recovery. Also decided to try and build a tube bumper for it. Not entirely happy but will do the job. I made all my...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

The old goodness and the new hotness spotted together... Finally got a pic of my old 3rd gen with my brothers new 2017 PW. Older brother just had to be like me, lol. I still prefer my truck (because it's stick, and I can beat it without worry), but I will say the new one is pretty nice. The 6.4 whil...

Re: 3rd Gen Front Driveshaft Removal?

When you're doing this in 25 below zero you get it off fast as you can. No time for skid plate removal. Especially when it's got 2-3" of ice on it lol. I wish I had a picture that day. I hear you on this! Been there done that. I use a flex socket with a long extension on my little 3/8 impact and yo...

Re: Performance out of the 10-13 5.7 hemi?

All depends on how deep your pockets are, lol. You can make power, but getting your trans to live with power and the weight of our trucks will be the trick. I cammed my PW and I don't regret it one bit, but you have to decide what you want to do and can live with. Best advice I can give you is find ...

Re: I Need a FSM

This is why I rebuild all my own transmissions, then I know what parts I'm putting into and the care of assembly. I'm on the cummins forums and ATS is not a company I would buy a trans from. I do run one of their converters and it is a sound unit. If you are even remotely mechanically inclined (and ...

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Truck is getting closer to it's first drive. Got the spacer made up to mate the passenger side drop transfer case to the hemi transmission, and lengthened/shortened the driveshafts to fit. Also go the fuel tank modified to use the stock Durango fuel pump. I was hesitant about cutting up a perfectly ...

Re: Dodge Demon!

I can't wait until they officially release the details on this car tomorrow. Will certainly be quite the straight line machine. From what I have heard there will be 3 power levels: #1 - 757 hp #2 - 815 hp #3 - 1023 hp Supposedly with #3 this requires the use 100+ octane fuel and you must buy and use...

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Little update. Got a few little items buttoned up, so I started to hang the front clip back on the truck and get it all swapped over. I personally don't really care for the 74 style grill, but I has almost all new 80 grill parts which I much prefer (I like the quad headlight look). Was a little bit ...

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Little more update. Not much picture worthy but have a few. Got most of the wiring hung on the truck and got the Durango gauge cluster in the old dash. It doesn't look the greatest right now, but once I get the face plate fabbed up and metal finish the dash it should look pretty good. Soon will star...

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Little more done this weekend. Got the motor fixed up for how I want it for now (basically knock the rust off and fix the broken exhaust manifold studs), and reassembled the trans and motor together and got it stabbed in the truck. For this truck i moved the motor ahead a coulpe inches to help in oi...

Lose the yellow wheels, and the push bar and I don't think it's that bad of looking truck. Still not my style and would be better if it was a real PW to start with.

I do question the validity of the data, but I'm not a techy so I'm just guessing.

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Damage, yeah there is not really a whole lot of structure in those old frames, and with that they do flex a LOT more than the modern hydroformed frames. No real pictures of the updates this weekend, but got the engine and trans out of the Durango. I will say I will NEVER take on a customers job of s...

Re: Dodge Demon!

Dodge dropped more info on it. Confirmed 315/40 R18 nitto drag radials on all 4 corners. Also posted another picture with an easter egg in the plate. The best guess I saw at deciphering it is 2.576 litres of blower displacement (2.6L) with 35 inchs of Hg (17psi). That would account for the power inc...

Re: Anyone ever storm chase in their wagon?

I use my PW to chase storms all the time. I like having a truck that I can self recover if I ever ditch it in a big wind storm, and I have been blown off the road before by a thunderstorm. http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg526/TrueCowboy426/lightening15.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg...

Re: New build '74 Power Wagon

Finally actually starting on this build. Changed plans a little bit from my initial thought, but for the first iteration of this build it will be built using a 5.7 hemi with the 5-45 RFE automatic. My plan is to try and stuff as many of the modern electronics in this truck as I can, but I have a fee...

Re: Valve rattle.

Can you describe the sound a little bit better or get a video of the noise? Really hard to diagnose an engine based on someone describing what is going on. However based on my knowledge of these motors (I have 4, 3rd gen hemi's), I don't believe you are hearing a valve rattle. If you have a lifter t...

No it just unscrews, pattern isnt meant to come off and no nut anywhere, strap wrench should do it. Re: Head Gasket

What does the truck run like off idle? Will it actually rev (I think auto's are limited to 4000 in N and P?) Is there anyway that you can two foot drive it and see if it will actually drive and rev under load? Do you have a heat gun that you can get the temperatures of the exhaust header at each cyl...

Re: Head Gasket

I'm sure you have already tried this, but have you tried running the truck on the stock tune or even reloading the tune once you had the battery charged? If the battery was low when you installed the tune it could have gotten corrupted (common problem). I would put a battery charger on the truck, re...

Re: supercharger

Well, the G-56 w/CTD is limited to 660 lb ft of torque. Safely, I would say 600 & don't abuse it. There's quite a few diesel guys out there making +800hp and +1600 lb-ft, with G-56's so they can hold there own, but are prone to cases flexing and that taking out the internals. Like anything, abuse i...
