Re: DIY not-a-Power Tank

Maybe I'm being too cautious, but I'd want some kind of cage/protection around that stem. No? People I know who have had issues in vehicles with scuba tanks (which are more like 3000-4000 PSI) have mostly involved the burst disk functioning and blowing out windows etc. (Other than than one involvin...

Re: Front and rear diff guards

I slid back a bit negotiating an obstacle on top of the world and came to a very sudden stop. Got a nice ding on the rear diff guard from that.

Re: MOAB 2018 - CANCELLED

The BLM has a long history of doing illegal stuff and making up reasons to do what they want. The recent set of trials showed that clearly. Along with a willingness to lie under oath.

Ouch. Passenger compartment intact, so it’s probably just a lot of money.

Re: Got my Toy Up Deck

In theory at least, there are extension rails I can mount on my diamondback HD bed cover to carry that sort of ATV on the cover. As I don’t have an ATV it’s probably going to stay theoretical.

Re: Got my Toy Up Deck

Just don’t pull into the garage with it. I know a guy who, on a weekend, pulled into his usual covered reserved spot at work. Unfortunately, being it was the weekend, he had his rather expensive racing bike on his rooftop carrier...

Re: Rock sliders

I had a quote from a small local fab shop of $750 for sliders on my Avalanche. This included install. Can't compare them to the ones on my PW because I didn't go forward with them, but they had good reviews. The high end commercial shop in town (which mostly builds custom commercial truck bodies and...

The trick with jeeps where they cut the rockers away and weld in DOM tubing seems pretty effective, but I’m not going there.

Re: Update

The failure mode has to do with long periods of ideling with your foot on the brake. Not exactly sure what the reflash does, but is supposed to keep it from locking the interlock.

Does anyone know if they actually change anything, or do they just confirm it doesn't slip into gear and they are done?
It was an inspection and a reflash of the BCM. I needed an TSB for uconnect done so I got the recall done at the same time.

I just pulled the steel cable off when I got it home and installed a master pull line in its place. That was enough work for me.

Re: Good places to move to in the southwest

Prescott climate is a lot like Albuquerque’s. It get hot in summer, but not furnace-like 115-120 peak like Phoenix and south of Phoenix get. North of that is Chino valley, Paulden etc. Not so convenient to Phoenix but probably less expensive.

Re: Nitrogen in tires???

N2 in tires for road going vehicles is snake oil. You can never get all the mixed air out and get close to 100% N2 in the tire. You will always have a mixture in there. The only way to have 100% N2 in the tire. Is to install the tire on the rim in an enclosed air tight chamber filled with N2. Air i...

Funny you say that! I legitimately believe the dark color is mostly to blame for all my Rambox and fender flare issues. Should’ve bought white. With my old grey/silver car in Albuquerque the damn thing used to get super hot, like 160 can't touch bare metal. White trucks and cars don't get nea...

Re: Lifetime Power Train Warranty for 3G

I was told explicitly that installing a turbocharger/supercharger would void the power train warranty. More than a 6" lift would void other parts of the warranty. There were other ways to do that too, they suggested discussing major mods with them first. The lifetime end-end with $100 deductible was...

I wasn't able to get it to work on my 2018 either but not surprised since the BCM programming has changed for 2018.
Worked for me. But I don’t have the keyless thing.
