With the plates the WKs are fine for the mall. Not as nice as some of the electric ones I’ve seen, but not bad.

Re: Gears?

Did you reprogram for tire size, or have the dealer do it? If not you should try that first. That will adjust some things in terms of shift points and such that might greatly improve your experience. And it’s like an hour of non-warranty service at the dealer. You can also buy alfaobd, the Bluetooth...

They won’t hold up to off-road use on power wagons. Heck, they don’t hold up to dirt roads on power wagons. Good traction, didn’t have any complaints on that part. So with a 4000 point truck they are probably fine. I have a full set of low mileage if anyone is around abq.

The high end stuff is amazing. But the few hundred doable stuff isn’t bad.

But I can’t give recommendations as I just watch people do this, not do it myself.

Re: New truck, new nanny to hate.

I have one of those bypass cables. It sucks. There are no directions and it implies you should connect it to two different jumper blocks, one of which doesn’t exist in a 2018 power wagon. Complexly worthless. Just throw a couple of $20s out the window, it’s a lot less frustrating. I got mine from s...

You cant get one with the cummins.
There is suspicion that they have a newer diesel that will fit available in a year or two. We’ll see.

Re: Upgrading to 35’s

After doing more research, I’m leaning towards the procal. It seems like it does everything I need it to without having to dig into my dash and install that bypass module. Did you have to install the bypass to use alfaobd? Yes. On an 18 it’s behind the radio. In theory there is a cable that allows ...

Re: Upgrading to 35’s

At the very least your speedometer will be off without reprogramming. Apparently the dealers can't fix TPMS, so you need one of several tools for that. I used Alfaobd, but tire size changes their are a little complex in it, and if you don't do it right you'll know it. TPMS is easy and it's very flex...

Can you damage the sway bar or radius arm if you rub on it with 37s? Damage the tires? What’s the negatives?

No, I have no experience with this.
I hope not. The drawback is that your turning radius gets bigger. But it saves $1250+ vs buying better sized wheels.

You can run stock wheels with toyo mt 37s. They rub at lock, but they are ok.

Re: Should I?

If you want to test the lockers you have to be in 4 low and moving VERY slowly. Like 2-3 mph, but you have to be moving. Also have to be in 4 low for the sway bar, but not so terribly slow. At least that how it works for Gen4 trucks.

Re: Tonneau Cover Recommendation

The heavy duty is really heavy duty. But I drive around with a 37 Toyo strapped to the top of mine. The only issues I’ve seen is it you load across the hinges. It levers the latches and you’ll have a hell of time locking and keeping it locked. I needed new plastic tips for the locking rod as I tore ...

Re: What would you expect to pay for a re-gear?

IIRC, the Yukon seemed to be preferred over Nitro, as there isn't any OEM last I knew. It looks like ~$900 just for the ring and pinions. No idea what other parts you need, or how much it would cost if you paid something to do this for you. But I've never really looked into this much, so hopefully s...

Alfaobd can do that too. Tpms is easy, changing the wheel size is a bit trickier as it requires a series of steps to get ABS working. If you do it wrong then among many other things you get no speedometer.

Re: Tonneau Cover Recommendation

Love my diamondback. Also have the factory RAM foldable cover that worked great. But wanted a more solid cover. I do have the rambox and the diamond back does not seal the greatest at the tailgate, so I do get some water in the bed. Someone at PWM had modified theirs slightly to get it to seal a lo...
