Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

I would think that if we were still dealing with drum brakes but come on. We have four wheel discs. Low vacuum would be the limiting factor on the assist but that would/should result in a heavy/stiff pedal.

Re: New Rear Bumper?

The cheap Chinese lights have a lot going for them. Same output, maybe an application of silicone to weatherproof them. I run them and have no issues. Betting the drivers, regardless of manufacturer are all made in the same plant. No. Chinese garbage is light years behind modern quality lighting. G...

Re: Strange A/C Problem

I'm no A/C expert but definitely sounds like something is wrong. On my 1500 2009 the compressor just died at 125K, no symptoms, but I keep an eye on any A/C issues that pop up in forums because I drive a black truck in Houston TX. For that one (the 2009) there was a reflash (recall) for the ECU for ...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

I hear you on the feel, heavy initially and then tapering off as opposed to the linear feel of hydroboost or single stage/single diaphragm vacuum assist. Of course the transmission downshifting the way it does assists (and still feels weird) but I think better biting pads to start, and then when it ...

Re: Max tire size

So far great. Better traction, better ride. Slightly more noise. But mostly it boils down to not stressing out about flats. Will take it for a quick loop around Silverton this weekend and see how they do more off-road. Honestly its not real impartial as I have used BFG AT or MT my entire life. Good...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

In the rocks in 4Lo and/or locked up it is definitely a chore. Wish we had hydroboost instead of vacuum. I can't find it but I'm sure I read that it's a two stage booster so at least in my driving, stopping from speed is good up until 10 ish and below, and then it seems the boost comes off acting mo...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon issues

Can’t say I really care about the truck being gas or diesel. AES makes any RAM diesel into a Prospector so it was an option. What I am having a difficult time with is over all shamefully embarrassing fit to finish, and over all lack of accountability toward failing to manufacture a realizable truck...

Re: Recall done

I don't know how much I will use it, but I want the Hill Descent Control to work on my truck. That is a fix on the 2018 trucks with the cruise control recall. It is 1.5 hours to the nearest dealer. One won't return my messages. The other can't get me in for about a month. Wait until the parts for t...

2018 Power Wagon 35x12.5r17 Toyo MTs on AEV RAM Saltas Any difference in dimensions from the stock wheel to the Saltas? I know a lot of folks like to make custom changes but I'll be looking for tires soon and I like the stock wheels so just confirming there is nothing different in regards to offset...

Here in the TX heat as well. 212* oil temp and the same for coolant. I see slightly higher oil temps compared to coolant for most running.

You want to see PW's in the wild just move to Houston. I saw 4 on my way home Friday (including the one that my employee bought a few weeks ago).

Re: A Tale of Diagnostic Woe

Just with the way the cam lobes look I would expect some evidence of metal in the oil. Granted I deal with older engines that delaminate cam bearings more often (in current times) I would still want them changed as well as the MDS solenoid. If you're going to do a top end job, you might as well do t...

Re: 2011 PW Tailgate pops open while driving??

Not my PW but my previous 1500 Ram would pop open occasionally. Was always due to the latches and handle mechanism needing some cleaning and lube. Mostly in the winter here in TX during the two weeks of cold.

The cover has been off twice now so not worried about paint, and it should have a flex additive in the paint regardless. I paid my way through school in a custom car shop so I still remember a few things. The problem I have with this whole thing is that their answer is to send the truck out to a pai...

It's hard for me to read these. I grew up in an international dealership and I still have scouts so I can say that I am well aware of what 0* (yes I have corrected) caster and a solid axle with almost no adjustment, with 33"+ mud grips feels like going down the road at any speed whatsoever (you lear...

Re: Texas Runs?

We do hidden falls in the Scout with our binder clubs and it is a great park. There are a few places out west and Gilmer up North but big rocks can hurt. Also did Big Bend and two days of trails (30+ miles each/avg. 6-8 hours) was a blast. Perfect for the PW but every bit of 12 long hours away. Can'...
