Re: Gears?

We have an 06 so it has the 5.7, so not the same truck. I swapped out the rear 10.5 for a 11.5 so I could go with 5.38's. We are running 40's and tow our 10k pound camper and it does very well. With the 6.4 and 37's I would absolutely go with 5.13's. http://pics.montypics.com/akwhtbst/2018-10-24/154...

Re: Alaska Earthquake

What a weekend!! I work for the local water and sewer utility. We have been busy fixing broken pipes since the quake. I had planned on wheeling with Low_Sky on Saturday but the emergency killed those plans. Our house that we rent came out with very minor sheetrock cracks and some broken decorations ...

Nice pics out by Knik and of TAPS! 👍 We went out to McCarthy this last weekend but my PowWag is currently more pack mule and less wheeler these days... If you ever get the itch to scratch the paint up, let us know ;) Mine is still too pretty for alder pinstriping! :D You should take your truck to C...

Re: Wilsonsinak's Build - 2006 Power Wagon "Alaska Build"

Wow this summer flew by and I have not updated this post all summer. Once I got the truck back on the road we ran the factory front E-locker for only a little while. I found that the locker was damaged during the time my buddy had the truck in November. So in an effort to save a couple bucks I picke...

Re: Front Locker Tear Down

Good work sir! Could you tell where the metal chips came from that were interfering with the locker? My front carrier case had started to crack from repeated shock loading I guess, and I found some little bits like that. The metal came from the corners of the dog legs that lock the diff up. The loc...

Re: Front Locker Tear Down

Thanks for posting pictures. Did you have to press off the bearings to get it apart? I had to pull the bearing off to get the actuator off. You could leave the bearing on and not remove the actuator but I had trouble getting the locking mechanism to slide out so the actuator was in the way of me pu...

Front Locker Tear Down

I recently had issues with my front locker not engaging. I could not find any pictures of the Power Wagon front locker taken apart. When I took it apart it had very small pieces of metal in the locker where it slides to engage and disengage. Once these where cleaned out it worked perfectly. Dirty an...

Re: 2006 Power Wagon Alaska Build

Awesome truck bro. Those pictures with the 42" Pitbull's...now that's what I call "stance". What year Ferd were the flares for? I'm lost as to why Bushwacker never made a cutout-flare for theses trucks. It was a good stance but no way they would fit the truck without some more serious mods...

Re: 40-Inch Tire Discussion (Or anything bigger than 37's)

Well, remember, I opened this thread by saying you can do this the right way, or half-assed way. There are a few guys, who aren't around these parts who have moved to 40's. One 3rd gen guy... well his front end lasted a year and a half. And the funny part, he claimed it wasn't the 40's. He "loaned ...

Re: 2006 Power Wagon Alaska Build

So its time for an update. In November my buddy was driving our truck and both front u-joints went out and took out both inner and outer axle shafts. So we parked the truck in the garage at that time while we figured out if we where going to simply repair the axle shafts or if we where going to upgr...

Re: Bald Mountain 4x4 trail - Alaska - Local Power Wagon owners?

Tim, John, It sounds like we are all in Anchorage (despite my screen name—I live in Anchorage now). I’d love to find a week when it is dry. Is June the dry month i.e. best time? Also Tim it sounds like you’re the subject matter expert on the trail. So, I’ll defer to you. I will also private message...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Just a couple pictures of the truck since the addition of the 40" LTB's. We went hunting and hauled hunting camp in with the Power Wagon. On the way out a Rubicon had oil pump problems so we drug him out 12 miles. The truck did amazing dragging dead weight through stuff that the Jeep under its own p...

Made a couple changes to our 06 Power Wagon. 2" longer controls arms, 2.5" spacer up front, 1.5" spacer in the rear and 40 inch ltb's. Making room for the tire. I still need to cut a little more off the bumper to clear the tires. http://pics.montypics.com/akwhtbst/2017-08-02/1501693910_img_20170731...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

I'll be very excited if things work out for you. It's easy to stick within the norms and sit around and say "that won't work because of X and Y", but then somebody goes out and finds a way. Glad you're liking the truck, these things are amazing for what they are. I'd bet lots of us get a smile on o...

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread

Thanks! So it's been a long time but I thought I remember talking with Aaron at Thuren and him saying that the reason you can't push the axles forward more than about 5/8" on these trucks is that the Trackbar frame mount will hit the coil or coil bucket. That looks to be the case in the pictures yo...

Can you post up pics of your control arms and the clearance between the Trackbar frame mount and the coil bucket? These control arms are a temporary setup until I have the time to build a long arm setup for the truck. http://pics.montypics.com/akwhtbst/2017-08-03/1501776692_img_20170802_101316.jpg ...
