Re: New Tires Yokohama X-AT 35's

I've been in the dirt a lot with mine. They have performed well in the wet and the dry. I normally spend weekends in snow, but the with the lockdown we haven't been going to Mammoth.

Here are a couple pictures with measurements I got when checking for clearance on my flatbed build. On the DS i let purged air out of the bags as the bags were compressing so it should be pretty close to zero psi.
Thanks for the pictures. I am hearing more and more that the spacer isn't needed.

Re: Air Lift Bags and Uptravel

We live where the Mojave meets the Sierra Nevadas. I have the truck off-road every week-end. Most is light to medium-duty stuff exploring with the family, but rocky terrain and washouts are a given. We are regularly in the El Paso, Coso, Panamint, and Sierra Nevada mountains. Trails can get tight wi...

Re: Air Lift Bags and Uptravel

Mainly for towing a travel trailer (7-8K) and hauling firewood. I typically have a pretty big generator in the bed while pulling the camper.

It actually does pretty well towing, but I can induce a decent squat loading up the bed.

Air Lift Bags and Uptravel

I think I am adding Air Lift bags and Daystar cradles this spring. I am assuming they they limit uptravel. For folks that off-road, how noticeable has the loss of articulation been?

Re: New Tires Yokohama X-AT 35's

I've had mine since early December. Very quiet, and they have done really well off-road so far. 6 inches of wet sloppy snow over mud and wet sand was no problem at all. I'm really interested in how they will deal with snow on the road, but the white stuff has been largely absent this year.

I'm pretty sure it is 11 inches longer in wheelbase and about 11 inches longer in over-all length.

Re: 2012 vs 2019

I think a lot of people have no idea that the lockers will not attempt to engage above 3mph (that's engagement speed, not speed you can drive once locked). I exercise my front locker regularly. Staying below 3 mph and getting the differential wheel speed required to line things up (unless your front...

Re: Parksense Sensors

The interweb says this might be a troublesome combo...

As a data point of one, mine only show the message to wipe them when they have a thick layer of dust. I was driving in 2ft deep moon dust a couple of weeks ago and had this problem.

HockyWagon, any chance you are running HID headlights? I'm wondering if this isn't the source of some of the ParkSense issues.

Re: Geolandar X-AT?

Forget what I said about noise level. At highway speeds these are definitely quieter than the Duratracs. I wonder how they will sound after 10K. I cut a load of firewood yesterday. I went through an area of soft sand that historically requires 4wd. I went through in 2wd just fine. Everything is wett...

Re: Geolandar X-AT?

They have a 45K mile warranty, so we will see if that means anything. The last time I tried to warranty a tire (Goodyear), the pro-rate on it was less than my drive out of town to get it resolved was worth. I did play a little bit in the Sierras today. All light duty trails and one water crossing. T...

Re: Geolandar X-AT?

I pulled the trigger on the X-ATs. I guess I am the guinea pig for these tires, because there just isn't any feedback yet. 35x12.5x17s. The spare fit with very little wiggling (although I only have 20psi in it). Tire shop said I would never get it in there after they made one cursory try. I'll have ...

Re: Geolandar X-AT?

Alright, I'm torn between the Toyo AT2 and the Geolandar X-ATs. No one has any feedback on the X-ATs yet. I need to make my final decision soon. I can get them done in town for virtually the same price. We have already had a 2 decent snows this year. I'm counting on a lot this winter in the mountain...

Re: Maximum Steel

I love the Maximum Steel color. It was on my short list when I was getting my 2018. I pin-stripe my truck so often off-road, I figured the silver wouldn't show it as bad as a darker color.

Geolandar X-AT?

I just turned 24K on my 2018 and the Duratracs are shot. I will likely go with 35s for the replacement. I am strongly considering the Yokohama Geolandar X-AT, but there are no real reviews yet. I have never owned Yokohamas before The other options are the ever popular Open Country (probably RT), the...

Re: 2018 Power Wagon Brake Issues

I've had a few instances of soft brakes with my 2018. I dropped the truck off for one of the recalls and asked them to check it. They agreed something wasn't right. I had to leave the truck there, but they provided a courtesy truck. They told me they bled the brakes twice and it is good now. I pick ...

There are bushings you can buy to strengthen the grab handle. I added those after I went through a couple of replacement handles.

I live in Ridgecrest and we have been feeling every one of them.

I also use the same USGS link.

We've had about 900 quakes over 2.5 since the whole thing started. We left town today to get some sleep.

Re: I put my order in

I got the dual alternators specifically for winching. I've been off road a lot lately, but I must be doing something right, because the winch isn't getting any use. If I get a chance to cut some firewood in the National Forrest soon, I'll definitely be using the winch then.

Competition is good.
Agreed. I can't help but think how much better full-sized trucks became after the introduction of the Tundra.
