Re: Tire Pressures
I have a 2012 PW with 37x12.5x17 General Grabber X3s. I run 28 in the front and 23 in the rear. That's chalk tested and has perfect wear after over 15,000 miles. I know some will say that very low, but after almost 2 years at those setting the truck runs great on them. The truck is not overly squish...

Re: Transmission issue.
Update on the issue. So last Thursday the dealership calls, says I owe 248.00 for a transmission service fee. Once I get to the dealership, I ask to talk with the tech that did the work on my truck. Asked a bunch of questions about the tranny issue. So the main problem was that the transmission filt...

Transmission issue.
Anyone ever get the DTC P0732, gear ratio error in 2nd? I just dropped off the PW at the dealership. She had some hard shifts from 2nd to 3rd and eventually shifted out of gear while making a left turn, as I coasted across the intersection. Dealership says they need to first evaluate the transmissio...

Re: Upper Control Arm Play
I have a 2012 PW, and have Thuren's arms on my truck. The UCA on my drivers side also was a little loose. I tightened the bolt/nut, and it hasn't made any noise since. Just like you, I could grab the arm and wiggle it, moving it maybe 1/32"-1/16". This was on the axle end of the joint. I say tighten...

Re: 5.7 Hemi Tick
Definitely check the exhaust manifold. I had the drivers side done a couple of month ago. Was quiet until the passenger side started about 2-3 weeks ago. Funny thing about warranty work......they knew it was going to happen on the passenger side, but until it makes noise, they wont fix it. I have a ...

Thuren 3" coils and shock length.
So I bought Thurens 3" coils for my 2012 PW. He lists them as 2" over the 1.5" PW OEM height. So thats 3.5" total, over OEM stock. I ordered some Bilstein 5160s (25-187595), collapsed 15.2", extended 25.96". I measured the stock shock tower at about 4.5" above where the top of the spring sits. The b...

Re: ARB compressor and SwitchPro install
So there are 2 parts the the wiring harness. The top is the power harness and the bottom is the switch harness IMAG0411_40.jpg The compressor has two hots coming from it, one from each motor(they don't call it a twin for no reason). Each one of those has a 40 amp fuse. IMAG0413_40.jpg The 56 amps un...

This past February I replaced my steel cable with some Master Pull synthetic. I have the 3/8" line, rated at 29,700 lbs. I've used it to pull vehicles, move fallen trees and other fun stuff (zip line for the kids). After removing the old cable, remove all 4 rollers and sand them down smooth. Super s...

Re: ARB compressor and SwitchPro install
Yes, I used the mount from M.O.R.E. Its real solid. I had to mount the compressor to the mounting bracket first, then mount the bracket to the side of the bed. Getting behind the bed wall was a real pain in the butt. The rear most top nut was damn near impossible to get on, but with some bruising of...

ARB compressor and SwitchPro install
After much sitting on the idea for too long, I finally ponied up the cash and purchased an ARB twin air compressor. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting a less expensive portable unit that clips on to the truck battery for some time now. I’ve read posts from individuals who like their portable units,...

Thuren control arms repair
So its been a while since i was on here last. In that time I had a control arm blow out, mostly due to one of the snap rings not being in all the way. I called Thuren, and they sent me the repair parts and the tool required to compress everything to get the snap rings in. I've attached some photos o...

Re: Recovery gear expense justification.
So, contrary to my user name, I am currently located in New Mexico, (Military). The trail where we were was mainly a dry dirt road. The snow was only on the trail in areas on the northern slopes that were still in the shade during the day. Temps in the mountains are hovering right at freezing in the...

Recovery gear expense justification.
So how does one justify purchasing expensive synthetic line and other recover gear? A couple of weeks ago, myself and some buddies went wheeling in the mountains. There was a lot of snow on the trail back then, in fact I think I mentioned it in my post about the Thuren control arms and Grabber X3 I ...

Re: Cross caster
So I never said I was unhappy with the settings. I just want to make sure everything is up to par. The tires I'm running are General Grabber X3s, 37x12.5r17, and have less than 200 miles on them. Being that they are new, I want to get the front end aligned correctly. Current pressure on the tires ar...

So I have taken my PW a couple times to get an alignment and each time it gets better, but still pulls to the right. The other day, while taking pictures of my driveshaft, I decided to look at my lower control arm cam bolts. This is what I saw Driver side: image.jpg Passenger side: image.jpg 1.Is th...

Fanagled a new driveshaft!
So, I tried to get the dealership here to update my nav system for free under a service bulletin, but it was a no-go. While there, I asked if my u-joints were under warranty, and the confirmed they were. I have a 84 month/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. I told the technician why I thought the u-jo...

Re: New control arms and tires!!
So I finally got around to pulling my bumper out to help clear the tires. I used a tractor trailer cargo strap and hooked it to by buddies rear steal bumper. We tried to ratchet it but it was too hard to get it to where I wanted it. I ended up just putting it in 4 low, put the truck in reverse and s...

Re: 2012 PW curb weight by axle
My truck is a 2012. If you can get the load inflation chart, that's the best way. If not, then like nts007 said, take the max load info from the tire wall. Max load in lbs divided by max psi gives you lbs per psi. My Grabbers are rated 3525 lbs at 50 psi which equates to 70.5 lbs per psi. then divid...

Re: 2012 PW curb weight by axle
I got my truck weighed on the way home today.
Front----4080 lbs
Rear-----3120 lbs
With my 37" Grabber X3s, that equates to 29 psi in the front tires and 22 psi in the rear.
So many people run larger tires that are over inflated!

2012 PW curb weight by axle
Any one with a 2012/2013 power wagon ever get the curb weight of each axle? I know all I need to do is get my truck weighed, but maybe some one can chime in with their own weights.

Re: New control arms and tires!!
So I got the X3s on the truck finally. My wallet was raped in the process! Since the auto hobby shop's tire machines were down I had to have them mounted and balanced in town. Because I did not buy from any of the retailers in town, I got the privilege to pay the premium, full price for their servic...
